Wicked Weed Napoleon Complex to be canned in 2017

Wicked Weed Napoleon Complex is a year-round offering by the Asheville, North Carolina based brewery. A pale ale with a big complex.

Wicked Weed Napoleon Complex departs from the standard pale ale, by taking a 5.2% alcohol by volume pale ale, and upping the hop bill. A small pale ale with a BIG hop presence. The beer has been available on draft for a little while before getting the nod for bottles.

RELATED: Wicked Weed expanding can production

In 2017, Napoleon Complex will be a part of the brewery’s expanded can lineup. Wicked Weed dabbled in cans with a handful of brewpub only cans. Next year, at least four of the brewery’s offerings will be canned and distributed.

Napoleon Complex is a small-statured pale ale with a larger-than-life attitude. Ignoring the industry standard of diminutive hop presence and mild manner, this pale ale will have most IPA’s contemplating their inadequacy. Little beer, big flavor, even bigger ego.

Wicked Weed Napoleon Complex is a bottle and draft offering. Expect cans in early 2017.

Style: Pale Ale
Availability: 11.2oz bottles, Draft. Year-round.
Release (Bottles & Draft): Late-January, 2016
Can Debut: 2017

5.2% ABV

Creature Comforts Oh Fantastic Then! release on hold

Creature Comforts Oh, Fantastic Then! was coming to the brewery’s Taproom Series this week. The brewery has put this beer on hold. A new date has not been set.

Starting back in October, the Athens, Georgia based brewery launched a canned series of taproom releases, coinciding with an expansion to the brewhouse. The expansion allowed the brewery a little wiggle room in the production schedule.

So far, that room as allowed for Crescendo, Duende, and now a new pale ale – Oh, Fantastic Then!

This “balanced and elegant” pale ale features Southern Passion hops from South Africa, plus the well known Azacca and Mosaic hops.

The result is a fruity, earthy, & funky beer.

Creature Comforts Oh, Fantastic Then! will be a 12 ounce can and draft offering, available on the tour at a future date.

Style: Pale Ale
Hops: Southern Passion, Mosaic, Azacca

Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft. Brewery only.

Badass packaging: Back Forty Peanut Butter Porter

You’ve heard of comfort food. Meet comfort beer. Back Forty Peanut Butter Porter is easily one of of the best can designs we’ve seen in 2016.

The Gadsden, Alabama based brewery took a porter and aged it on roasted peanuts. They call it comfort food. It really is comfort beer. You see, it’s not easy to brew with anything fatty or oily. Oil destroys the surface tension of bubbles. No bubbles means flat beer. Execution and nuance is key.

It’s creamy, it’s big, it’s just what it sounds like. Brewed with crushed peanuts and a malt bill thick enough to slather on some bread, Peanut Butter Porter belongs on your grocery list right next to the jelly, bananas & bacon.

Back Forty Peanut Butter Porter is a little sweeter than other peanut butter beers out there, which we think is a good thing. It’s a freaking 10.5% alcohol by volume porter with a nutty peanut butter finish. While it’s not just like eating a peanut butter sandwich, it’s definitely not just a beer either. There is truth in the name: Peanut Butter Porter. Plus A-MAZING packaging.

Back Forty Peanut Butter Porter is available now in 12 ounce cans. Don’t worry, there’s no crusts here.

Style: Porter (w/ Peanuts)
Hops: Apollo
Malts: Two Row, C-60, C-80, Midnight Wheat and Chocolate malts

Availability: 12oz Cans
Debut: November, 2016

10.5% ABV

This is Jekyll’s spin on a true American Light Lager, brewed with American Pilsner malt and flaked rice.  This lager provides a crisp light flavor and slightly dry finish that make it utterly sessionable. In creating our lager, our goal was to provide consumers with a lighter, high quality craft beer, a good entry point for folks who are new to craft. – Brewmaster and Co-owner Josh Rachel
