Service Brewing SBC 2 marks the brewery’s 2nd

Service Brewing SBC 2

Service Brewing SBC 2 debuts later this month. A celebration of the Savannah, Georgia based brewery’s second birthday.

Service is veteran owned, started by Kevin Ryan, former U.S. Army Company Commander. He and his incredible fiancé Meredith Sutton have put 11 beers into production, nearly 50 different R&D beers, and even more notable- raised $28,000 dollars for various charities.

Service Brewing SBC 2 is described as an American-Belgo-style ale, different from anything the brewery has created to date. Their house yeast, cultured from the Service apiary (Army bees!), gives the beer the Belgian-like characteristics, and fruity ester flavors. Combine that with blood orange zest and a healthy dose of Citra hops, and your birthday beer is complete.

SBC2 marks our second anniversary craft beer in honor of those who serve our country, and we humbly continue our duty of donating a portion of our revenue to support them. Thank you for helping achieve our mission as we dedicate SBC2 to all the charities out there making the world a better place.

Style: Belgian-style Strong Ale (w/ Blood Orange Zest)
Hops: Citra

Burnt Hickory Brewing launches cans

Burnt Hickory Didjits cans

Kennesaw, Georgia based Burnt Hickory Brewing launches their first cans this week. The brewery started with Didjits, a blood orange India pale ale.

Punk rock music fans might recognize the beer name, named for the band The Didjits, formed in the 80’s. The Offspring covered their song Killboy Powerhead on their Smash album (probably The Offspring’s most famous, it had Come Out and Play, and Bad Habit tracks on it.)

Burnt Hickory brewed their first beer in 2012 on a 2-barrel system. Since then, the brewery has expanded to a  20-barrel brewhouse.

As with all breweries, this is just the first of many canned offerings coming in the future.

Magic Hat Art Hop Ale 2016 features blood orange & sage

Magic Hat Art Hop Ale 2016

Magic Hat Art Hop Ale 2016 is coming this summer. The beer is a collaboration; an intersection of art and brewing.

The brewery teamed up with the non-profit SEABA (South End Arts and Business), which promotes local artists as well as businesses. The Labels for Libations contest motivated Vermont artists to submit works for the can.

The winning label was crated by Zelde Grimm.

Magic Hat Art Hop Ale 2016 is an imperial blonde ale, brewed with blood orange, orange peel, and sage.

A bready malt body creates a solid canvas for blood orange, while sage provides the balancing juxtaposition of spice to the citrus notes from Simcoe, Amarillo and Cascade hops.

Magic Hat Art Hop Ale 2016 is available all summer in 16 ounce cans and draft.

Style: Blonde Ale (w/ Blood Orange, Orange, and Sage.)
Availability: 16oz Cans, Draft. Summer seasonal.
