Odell Releases Barrel Aged Brown “The Meddler”

Odell Brewing (Ft. Collins, CO) has released The Meddler, a barrel aged Belgian style brown ale. The Meddler is actually a blend of several generations of brown ales, aged in barrels for 18 months.

“At first sniff you get a caramel crystal malt aroma with hints of tartness,” said Brent Cordle, the brewery’s barrel aging manager. “A creamy tan head appears after the pour giving way to flavors of brown sugar, oak and vanilla paired with sour black cherry and a crisp dry finish.”

Style: Oud Bruin (Barrel Aged)
Availability: 750 ml bottles, Corked & Caged.
Distro Area: Odell’s 10 State Footprint

9% ABV

Ballast Point/Brewdog Collab Releases in September

The Ballast Point/Brewdog collaboration is finally going to see the light of day. Almost a year ago (November 11, 2011),folks from Ballast Point Brewing (San Diego, CA) jumped the pond to Scotland and created San Diego Scotch Ale. The group soaked raisins in Ballast Point’s Three Sheets Rum.  Then they aged it in a scotch whiskey barrel.

Look for bottles to be released in the Brewdog store in September, 2012.

Down below heavy clouds, swollen and green with electric rain, the two-grinned snake waves at us in the arrythmic symphony. We dance up the leg of a star dusted mountain; from its summit our souls are projected into the darkness of the universe as scattered laser light beams. We seek the taste of eternity.  You dig?

Green Flash Flanders Drive, A Bourbon Sour Ale

Green Flash Flanders Drive

Barrel aged Green Flash! The above is a bourbon barrel aged sour red known as Flanders Drive. The name refers to a style of red ale brewed in Belgium “Flanders Red Ale”. Those beers use Lactobacillus to give it sour character. Their flavor is sour and acidic.

Flanders Drive gets a little “Americanized” with some bourbon barrel aging. Green Flash  also has a Barrel Aged Sleepin’ With Shaggy approval, but with no ratings onRateBeer.com, the beer doesn’t seem to have been released yet.

Style: Flanders Red Ale (Barrel Aged)
Availability: 12oz bottles
Arrival: TBA
