Atlanta Come Get SweetWater’s Newest: 420 IPA

SweetWater Brewing’s latest Dank Tank Series release 420 IPA has arrived. This most recent release is built off the famed 420 Pale Ale, but bigger. Hoppier. Boozier. (and after tasting it, such a bright hop flavor.)

Tingling with excitement, el dank hopped the fur bus and rolled to the panic show at The Fox.  Boogieing down to Chilly Water, he noodled into a cute little wookie that blew his mind and yanked him from some post show get down at the Clermont lounge.  Stumbling and bumbling with blondie, he got booted, and went home for some shut eye.  Dreaming of the wet wookie, he awoke to his dog licking his tongue, realizing he was late for his night shift at SweetWater.

Fumbling through his brew and dry hopping duties, el danko hit the wall, and passed out mid-shift. Waking up to Nick Nock screaming WTF, he frantically ran around putting out fires.  As the haze cleared he realized he had left the mill running, jacking up the OG and dry hopping the wrong tank.  Fuddied up after the most insane 36 hours, el Danko pondered his delirious creation, a chubby 420 India Pale Ale! Huh??? Ducking trouble, he quickly swept the abominable snowman  under the rug, as he sent the 420 IPA to the bottling line boys in an effort to hide his momentoustus F- up.

StyleImperial IPA
Taste Expectations:  420 IPA has everything in common with 42o pale ale.  It tastes like 420, but bigger. The hop flavors are bright & fresh.  The beer is complex & clean.  It’s 42o Pale on steroids.
Availability: 22oz bombers, Draft

How About A Terrapin Moo-Hoo Cask With Banana & Marshmallow?

You read all of that right.   Recently Lee Dickson of Brick Store Pub went up to Athens to brew with Spike of Terrapin Brewing.  They made a Moo Hoo cask, and added banana and marshmallows.  It’s yellow and black for a reason, they are both big Steelers fans.  (I’ll look past that one.)  I suggest today you hit the pub wearing either Stiller colors or opposing team colors.  Let’s make the experience even more interesting.

Anyway, this milk chocolate, banana, marshmallow cask taps today, 5 pm.

Starbucks Adding Beer To Atlanta Locations

Starbucks has already been experimenting with beer and wine additions in stores in Chicago and the west coast.  The company announced yesterday that they plan on adding beer to as many as 25 stores in southern California and Atlanta by the end of the year.  Starbucks hasn’t revealed which Atlanta locations, or what breweries will be sold yet.  One would assume they would be looking at local options, right? (Terrapin, SweetWater, Red Brick, Wild Heaven, Monday Night, Red Hare.)

The strategy is part of a broader experiment to find ways to lure Starbucks customers and even non-coffee drinkers into stores during slow periods of the day, especially afternoons and evenings. The trick will be doing it without alienating core customers, said Bill Chidley, a Centerville, Ohio-based senior vice president at Interbrand, a brand consulting firm.

Starbucks profits started slipping in 2008, prior debut the initiative to add beer and wine to some stores.  An expanded menu with cheese & bread plates, combined with the addition of beer and wine have put Starbucks stock on the “stocks to watch” list according to Bloomberg.[SFGate]

Look For New Belgium’s Cocoa Mole This Week

The latest Lips Of Faith creation from New Belgium Brewing – Cocoa Mole hits shelves and on premise accounts in Atlanta this week.   Mole combines chocolate and chilis for a flavor roller coaster in a glass.

Chocolate, cinnamon and chilies combine for a sweet and spicy burst of fun in the newest Lips of Faith offering, Cocoa Mole. Brewed with pale, cara-mel-80, chocolate, dark chocolate malts and healthy dash of chocolate rye, Cocoa Mole presents midnight dark with a subtle reddish hue, lifting a pillowy, burnished head. The cocoa and cinnamon accompany plentiful ancho, guajillo and chipotle chilies to bring the mole merriment to the forefront. Cocoa Mole starts on the tongue with the sweet and finishes with the fine-spun heat of peppers. A worldly contrast in a glass, this beer will get you dancing with Mexican Hats. Ole!

Style: Chili Beer
