Stone Brewing Co’s “Crime” has been spotted around the country on tap. It was Lukcy Basartd Ale beer “ruined” with peppers from Stone Farms. A “crime” to ruin such good beer with such intense heat. Stone took that beer and aged it in Scotch whiskey and the result was 2012’s Quingenti release of Crime.
Lovers of strong ale, peppers and barrel aging can get pysched again. 2013 Crime is just as fun, but with a barrel change to bourbon instead of Scotch whiskey.
Peppers include mid-level-heat red and green jalapefios and ultra-hot black nagas, Caribbean red hots, Moruga scorpions and fatalis.
Style:American Strong Ale (Barrel Aged, w/ Peppers) Availability: 500 ml bottles. Limited Release Arrival: TBA
Shmaltz is turning 17. Each year they celebrate with a new Jewbelation offering. As the years roll on, the beers get bigger. (Boozier). In 2013, this whopping 17 hop, 17 malt, 17% ABV brew is aptly named Reborn. It signifies the transition from contract brewing to brick and mortar in Clifton Park, New York.
For those states with an ABV cap for beer, you might still see this monster brew. In the past, Shmaltz has brought in lower ABV editions so you don’t miss out on the birthday celebration. With a new brewing facility, this is a big possibility. In true Jeremy Cowan fashion, he tells a story on the bottle:
How could we hope to top last year’s Jewbelation Sweet 16 with its cupcakes, unicorns, & Satan’s Ferrari birthday cake? massive challenge. So for Year 17, we threw in a whole new dimension to our shtick – we built our very own brewery! After 17 years of contract brewing, our first Shmaltz Clifton Park batch emerged 17 months after the first draft of the business plan. Coincidence? Renaissance means “Re-birth” in French & Italian. In Buddhism, the concept does not truly translate as “reincarnation” but instead as “becoming,” or a “stream of consciousness.” 11 syllables structure a haiku. Shakespeare penned 17 comedies. In The Simpsons episode “Duffness” Homer sings “When I was 17” about buying his first beer with a fake I.D. “I drank some very good beer. I stayed up listening to Queen, When I was 17.” In The Office, Dwight recites Rule 17 that all Schrute boys must learn: “Don’t turn your back on bears, men you have wronged, or the dominant turkey during mating season.” Knowledge and growth come in many forms. It is taught that Nirvana is only attained when the soul transcends cycles of rebirth. Looks like Shmaftz just isn’t there yet. So with 17 malts, 17 hops, and 17% abv,JEWBEL4TIONREBORNserves as another mark of our death as a contract brewer and proof of our conversion to a new life as brewery owner……

The 2013 rare as $hit Stone Brewing Co. Quingenti Milliltiere Series rolls on with a southern inspired offering. The brewery has taken Double Bastard, a strong ale not for the timid palate, and aged it a blend of Kentucky bourbon barrels and virgin bourbon barrels. Some of the barrels aged the “Suitable for Cave Aging” tribute to beer great Danny Williams.
Flavor Notes from Stone: Intense smoke and vanilla flavors From the virgin bourbon barrels’ charred American oak, nuances of butterscotch and caramel front the Kentucky bourbon ‘barrels, and fudgy chocolate notes produced by Kentucky bourbon barrels that once held Stone Suitable for Cave Aging Imperial Smoked Porter Tribute to Danny Williams all meld into a very complex, well structured beer with intense flavor.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Grand Teton Brewing, the brewery has resurrected Bone Warmer Imperial Amber.
The beer was first brewed in 2006, and sold out faster than any other offering to date. Bone is brewed like a strong ale, with strong malt character and a boozy finish. This resurrection is a one time release.
Style: American Strong Ale Hops: Chinook Malts: German Munich, Caramel, R-Row Metcafe, Harrington Availability: 750 ml bottles, Draft Arrival: 9/1/2013

Tomorrow, June 13, will be the official launch party of the Cigar City and Widmer Brothers collaboration Gentlemen’s Club. Inspired by the Old Fashioned cocktail recipe and the Gentlemen’s Clubs where the cocktail was first served over 100 years ago, Gentlemen’s Club is a twist on an Old Ale Recipe. This brew features cherries and oranges, Alchemy, Sorachi Ace and Pacifica hops, and hand-selected specialty malts to try and emulate the flavors of the Old Fashioned cocktail. Then, the beer was aged on three different woods: bourbon barrels, rye whiskey barrels and new oak spirals, creating three unique versions of the beer.
Looking for a bottle? The first will be released during a special party at Widmer Brothers Pub during Portland Beer Week on June 13th starting at 5pm. After that, special releases from both breweries will also be available on draft. Bottles of Gentlemen’s Club will be available at the Widmer Brothers store starting at 5pm June 13, 2013.
