If you don’t watch sports, you’ve at least heard of the epic last-second field goal miss by Cody Parkey of the Chicago Bears on Sunday – now dubbed “Doink, Doink.” (Watch the kick and see why.)
Bears fans were less than forgiving. Parkey was booed off the field and was met with some pretty heavy social media vitriol and death threats.
Goose Island Beer Co. is doubling down on their backing of the kicker, who incidentally scored more points than the entire Bears offense, by the way. In a series of tweets, the folks at Goose called out the “armchair kickers” of the world for destroying Parkey. The brewery is even going as far as building a field goal post out front of their Chicago production facility, offering free beer for a year to anyone that can kick a 43-year field goal.
The event takes place on January 12th. The brewery has posted a set of rules you’ll find below.
Guess it’s time for Chicago Bears fans put their kicking foot where their Twitter handle is.
FLY EAGLES FLY ?
A lot of armchair kickers on here are saying that they could hit that field goal, which we find DOUBTFUL. You’re gonna sit there on your throne of potato chips and vape pens and criticize this dude’s athleticism? GET REAL. 2/5

So you know what we’re going to do? Build a dang field goal post in the middle of the street outside of our brewery, and all you pro athletes can come out and prove us wrong. 3/5

This weekend during normal taproom hours we’ll have a chance for you to show off your kicking skills. Hit the 43 yard field goal and you’ll win beer for a year and eternal glory. More info coming soon. 4/5
