Next Up In Goose Island’s Fulton & Wood: Gran GÃ¥s

Goose Island’s Fulton and Wood Series continues with Gran GÃ¥s, a European inspired recipe. Gran GÃ¥s translates to “spruce goose” thanks to spruce tips from Scandinavia that are added to the beer.

Gran Gas, literally translated ‘spruce goose’ in Swedish, was brewed with two-hundred-and-twenty pounds of hand-picked Spruce tips from Colorado, giving the beer a strong piney aroma with a hint of melon. The herbal character of the fresh spruce tips are complemented by the addition of a spicy Belgian yeast. A secondary fermentation with the lingonberries gives the beer a beautiful reddish-honey color that finishes tart and slightly sweet. With influences and ingredients from all over the globe, Gran Gas is truly an international drinking experience

Man Chucks Heineken Bottle At Usain Bolt

I guess you aren’t the fastest man on Earth without an enemy or two. Just as the men’s 100 meter final was set to start, a spectator started taunting Bolt. He then threw a Heineken bottle at him. Needless to say, Dutch Judo medalist Edith Bosch”corrected” him. (Or kicked his ass.)  If you look closely, you can see the bottle at the lower right hand of the screen. The man was later arrested.

Her tweet shortly after – ‘A drunken guest throws a bottle for me on the track! I HAVE BEATEN HIM…. Unbelievable! # angry # disrespectful’

Brooklyn Debuts Fiat Lux [Video]


Brooklyn Brewing adds to the Brewmasters Reserve Series with Fiat Lux. The name means “Let There Be Light.”  The name is less religious and more “let the be the light of summer.”

Let there be beaches, let there be blankets laid out on grass, let there be beer gardens, let there be barbecues, let there be outdoor concerts, let there be good beer everywhere, great people to drink it with, and time to enjoy it. Yeah, we thought you’d be down with that too. Brooklyn Fiat Lux is great with everything you’re cooking and eating this summer (it’s not that great with beef stew… but you’re not eating beef stew) from barbecue to burgers, from crawfish to salmon. And it’s mighty nice with goat cheese. Have a great summer, folks. And yes, we admit it — we really do love walking into places, declaring “Fiat Lux!” and making it so.
Lux is based on a witbier recipe, brewed with Canadian and American malts and un-malted white winter wheat. Then Lux is spiced with coriander and lime peel.

Man Arrested For Drinking A Beer Through DUI Checkpoint [VIDEO]

Meet someone dumber than you. David Caruso (not related to CSI Miami’s star) was arrested for drinking a beer while driving through a sobriety check point.  Just wait, it gets better. In addition the DUI charge he received for the bit of dumbassery, he was driving with a suspended license. For DUI. Feel smarter yet? [VernonPatch]
