The Woodchuck Earth Week 2013 Campaign has just come to an end.Thanks to the efforts of the partnership, American Forests® will plant 7,311 trees on behalf of Woodchuck Hard Cider and the cider drinking fan base. That equates to 21 football fields of fresh forest. In addition, Woodchuck will donate $7,311 to the Vermont Tree Fruit Growers Association.
This is year #4 of the partnership, and thanks to the hard work – 42,033 trees have been planted in areas devastated by natural disaster around the country. ew fans and 552 e-newsletter sign-ups.

Boston Beer Company has filed a trademark for “Boston Strong” 26.2 Brew. The idea behind the slightly rebranded/rename is to support the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. The brewery will allow other breweries to use the “Boston Strong” trademark, as long as 100% of the profits are donated to charity.
All profits from the 26.2 Brew (the second release to date) will be donated to the Greg Hill Foundation, supporting victims and families affected by the act. Boston Beer also states that next years profits will benefit other marathon charities
26.2 Brew is a gose, clocking in a 4.5% ABV and is described as having “light cereal notes from malted and unmalted wheat, rounded out by a spicy, peppery character with a soft mineral quality from a touch of salt. The result is an unusual and delicate brew that is full of flavors to discover… and worth crossing the finish line for.”

Profits from the sale of the final product will be donated to Long Island Cares and to help Barrier Brewing Co. rebuild.

The Anheuser-Busch plant in Cartersville, Georgia has a plan for those in need of water when a disaster strikes. They turn their (3) 2,000 can per minute canning lines into water canning lines. In one day, the 9 million barrel a year brewery can produced about 44,000 cases of fresh drinking water for disaster victims, and here’s the kicker. The company has been doing it for almost 100 years.
The process is fairly simple for the brewery. The conversion takes about 8-9 hours to run clean, potable water into the system. Then you crank up the line and can away. Obviously the cans tested, and marked clearly that this is water, not lager. All 44,000 cans are donated at shipped by Anheuser-Busch. Clean drinking water is always a necessity after a disaster like Hurricane Sandy.

One part of the country, in Waterbury, Vermont, the floodwaters were so great, they literally washed away The Alchemist brewpub.
This prompted a very special collaboration with Stone Brewing Co, Ninkasi, and The Alchemist dubbed More Brown Than Black IPA. The group’s collaboration raised more that $115,000 dollars to The Waterbury Good Neighbor Fund. A non profits helping clean up after the catastrophe. To date, the fund has distributed nearly $400,000 to people in need.
“Helping the Waterbury community and our fellow brethren at The Alchemist Pub and Brewery is what the craft beer industry is all about,” Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co. CEO and co-founder stated. “As soon Mitch heard about the flooding, he immediately reached out to John, and asked how he could assist. We hope these funds will help Waterbury continue to rebuild.”
