Nodding Head Brews Sidney Crosby Namesake “Crosby Tears”

Nodding Head Brewery in Philadelphia, PA has a new beer on tap named for Sidney Crosby.   For those of you not fans of hockey, the Philadelphia Flyers & the Pittsburgh Penguins do NOT get along.  The Pens captain is one of the most hated by the Flyers team. The two teams played first round in this years Stanley Cup playoffs, where Philly eliminated the Penguins.

The beer: Crosby’s Tears.  The description:

Strong Ale, 8.7% ABV.  Whine-like in “honor” of its namesake… Orange hued like the team that sent him home this summer… the perfect compliment to a playoff run.

During this year’s playoffs, Crosby in a post game interview said “I don’t like any guy on that [Flyers] team.”  The next game, the Flyers gave out this t-shirt.

In between dominating the search engine market, and creating fancy glasses, Google should take a page from Paul Carff’s book.   Paul doesn’t work for Google (yet?) but his love of beer and tech have merged into the KegDroid.    Taking a Zoom tablet, a home draft setup, and Google+, he has created the future of open source beer pouring.   A ID badge authenticates the user, allowing you to choose which beer you want.  Open the tap, and the KegDroid will actually pour the amount selected.  Voila! Enjoy your foam.  P.S. Drinking beer has become very boring for him???

Jeans Made From Recycled Beer Bottles

Jeans made from recycled beer bottles.   No, not glass ones.  Plastic ones.  Clothing maker Bonobos recently debuted Bottle Rockets, a jean lineup made with a sustainable fabric using the plastic bottles.

Bottle Rockets — Premium Bonobos Denim featuring EarthSpun® Yarn from Cone Denim’s White Oak Mill. This innovative and environmentally sustainable fabric is produced entirely from recycled cotton, recycled polyester, and recycled plastic beer bottles (each pair of Bottle Rockets contains between 3 — 5 beer bottles, in fact).

The fabric comes from the rolling hills of North Carolina.  There are two color options to choose from — Indigo Rinse or Natural Canvas.   Even cooler?  Each pair has a patch telling you how many bottles are in your pants. (In addition to the ones you’re putting in your belly.) [Bonobos]

North Carolina Fabric! What doesn’t NC do with beer?
