Dogfish Founder Brews High School Reunion Beer

Dogfish Head Northfield Mount Hermon

What do you do for a high school reunion when you own Dogfish Head? You brew a beer for it. Brewery founder Sam Calagione graduated from Northfiled Mount Hermon in Gill, Massachusetts in 1988. Brewed with local maple syrup. This sounds like a special occasion brew, so don’t go looking for it. Unless you’re at the reunion of course.

This ale is brewed in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Class of 1988. Probably the most awesome class of righteous human beings to come through NMH ever.

The Twisted and Awesome GWAR Cans

Another in the line of metal inspired brews is Cigar City Brewing & GWAR’s Impaled Pale Ale. For those of you that don’t know, GWAR is a satirical metal band founded in Virginia in the 1980’s. They are pretty damn metal.

GWAR has teamed up with Tampa’s Cigar City Brewing for a new liquid track. Impaled Pale Ale will be brewed this summer, canned for the GWAR-B-Q festival in Richmond, Virginia this August. You knew damn well the artwork would be twisted, satirical, and awesome.

Game of Thrones is currently in Season 3. Ommegang recently released a beer in the shows honor dubbed The Iron Throne, a blonde ale. (Fitting for that little bitch boy King Joffery.) Throne stealer.  P.S. This beer isn’t real.

A bit of chivalry gets rewarded with a beer to the head. At a recent Chicago Cubs game, the husband tried to protect his wife from a stray baseball. In doing so, he accidentally spilled beer on her. In the heat of the moment she returns the favor. Glad they have a sense of humor about it.

Empty Beer Can Campaign Encourages People To Not Drink & Drive [VIDEO]

It is actually a pretty brilliant campaign to get Rio De Janeiro Festival goers to take mass transit. Antarctica Beer (official festival sponsors) created a special turnstile that scanned their beer can turning it into a mass transit fare. Empty beer can = subway ticket. It worked too. The beer turnstile got about 1,000 cans per hour. Drunk drivers caught, down 43%. That might be a good move for breweries stateside? Assuming the police don’t arrest you for having an open container.
