Heavy Seas Partner Ships Red IPA, with Maine Beer in February

Heavy Seas will kick off a new series of collaborations in 2016 – The Partner Ships Series. Three collaborations have been planned, with Maine Beer Company, Troegs Independent Brewing, and Terrapin Beer Company.

The first release arrives in late February – Heavy Seas Partner Ships Red IPA, with Maine Beer Company. Both companies have popular IPA offerings, so making a collaborative hop forward offering was a no-brainer.

Heavy Seas Partnerships Red IPA will boasts American hops, and strong citrus & pine flavors. Maine Beer Company will join Heavy Seas in Baltimore on January 28th to brew the beer.

Style: Red IPA
Hops: Warrior, Simcoe, Amarillo, Cascade, Hallertau Blanc
Malts: 2-Row, Caramalt, Chocolate, Vienna

Founders Mango Magnifico is returning to the Backstage Series

Founders Mango Magnifico con Calor [Magnificent Mango with Heat], will be reintroduced to the brewery’s Backstage Series in March, 2016.

This release marks the 15th entry in the series (last time it was released, it was the 7th). Founders Mango Magnifico is brewed with mango and habanero peppers.

 Not a traditional fruit beer, the delicate tropical fruit in Mango Magnifico is punctuated by a hint of heat, increasing the overall depth of flavor and adding another level of complexity. A refreshing drink for the warm summer months.

Founders Mango Magnifico will be a draft, and 750 milliliter bottle offering in March, 2016.

Burial Pinot Noir Barrel Aged Haysaw Saison releases January 23rd

Burial Pinot Noir Barrel Aged Haysaw Saison debuts this Saturday in Asheville, North Carolina.

The brewery took their popular Haysaw Saison brewed with Riverbend Malthouse barley and wheat, and aged in Biltmore Estate Winery (also based in Asheville).

We aged this fine batch in a collection of Pinot Noir barrels from the Biltmore Estate Winery to add a vanilla and vinous character that sublimely melds with Haysaw’s raisin, fig and clove aromas.

Burial Pinot Noir Barrel Aged Haysaw Saison is a 750 mililiter bottle offering. $16 dollars each.

Green Flash Dia De Los Serranos coming year-round in February

The San Diego based brewery is taking their Double Stout, and nuancing it with Serrano chilies. The result is a chocolatey, rich, spicy Green Flash Dia De Los Serranos.

Deschutes announces Barrel-Aged Abyss release date

Deschutes The Abyss returned in December, 2015. This time, it’s not alone. There are two barrel-aged editions riding this imperial stout’s coat tails.

We spoke with Jason Randles at Deschutes Brewery, and he’s clued us in on some of the details. Since this year marks the 10th bottling of The Abyss, three editions will debut together, that’s why the regular release will happen later than usual.

Coming January 15th, a 100% Cognac Barrel-Aged Abyss, and 100% Rye Whiskey Barrel-Aged Abyss, will be available.

The rye whiskey barrels came primarily from Willet Distillery in Kentucky. The cognac barrels hail from France, and are quite old.

Deschutes mentions this is a very limited release, in 22 ounce bottles.

Fonta Flora Sal De Gusano joins triple bottle release day

Fonta Flora Sal De Gusano will join two other special releases on January 16th.

While the other two releases – Sun Gold, and Land Trust are lighter offerings, Fonta Flora Sal De Gusano is an imperial stout. The 11.2% alcohol by volume imperial stout has been aged in mezcal barrels with cacao nibs from Asheville, North Carolina’s French Broad Chocolates. Additionally the beer features organic vanilla beans and Outer Banks sea salt.

All three beers release at a special brewery party on January 16th.

Red Brick Hype Whale is an imperial stout, aged on bourbon soaked oak. Instead of making an exclusive release, Red Brick brewed an ample amount of this new stout, giving you a chance to sip it all winter long. Solid chance to get off that hype train. (and get on a whale.)

This beer features big notes of dark chocolate and espresso beans with a distinct Bourbon oak character, which is achieved by aging the beer for
an extended period on chipped Bourbon barrels prior to bottling. So go ahead, grab your favorite glass and enjoy this whale of a stout.

Red Brick Hype Whale is will be available in February, 2016 in 12 ounce bottles and draft.
