Carolina Bauernhaus Feral Barrel Raspberry will be the third bottle release by the Anderson, South Carolina based brewery.

The base beer for Feral Barrel Raspberry is a dark wild ale, brewed with South Carolina region malts. It is initially aged for four months in sorghum rum barrels with native wild yeast from SouthYeast labs and two Brettanomyces strains.

For the past two months, Feral was aged on what the brewery calls a “massive” amount of red raspberries and tart cherries.

A dark wild ale featuring regional malts fermented and aged four months in sorghum rum barrels with a blend of native yeasts and brettanomyces. We added a massive amount of red raspberries and tart cherries and then aged for two more months. Red Hare Cotton Tail Orange Creamsic-ale, a beer dessert

Red Hare Cotton Tail Orange Creamsic-Ale is the next canned release by the Marietta, Georgia brewery.

The base beer being their year-round Cotton Tail Pale Ale, the Red Hare Brewing team has added orange and vanilla, with extra citrus notes coming from an addition of Zythos hops.

The result? It really does taste like an orange creamsicle. Plus a little bit of hoppy pale ale too. Our description might not do the beer justice, but believe us when we say, your nose will know when you open this can.

Orange flavors mirror the citrus notes of Zythos hops, while smooth sweet vanilla beans compliment their slight bitterness. Tastes just like a cold orange creamsicle on a hot day!

Red Hare Cotton Tail Orange Creamsic-Ale will be available in 12 ounce cans and draft as a seasonal release.

Style: Pale Ale (w/ Orange, Vanilla.)
Hops: Zythos
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.

Orpheus Even the Furies Wept is two beers, lots of barrels

Orpheus Even the Furies Wept, a new American wild ale, debuts on August 10th.

This new wild ale is actually a blend of two different beers. Per Jason Pellet, Orpheus brewer and president, the first five barrels that were filled at the brewery are called “Tribute Barrels”. Each Cabernet barrel was individually inoculated with the yeast dregs from five select breweries. A Belgian-style pale ale was added to each of them.

RELATED: Orpheus Coffee Minotaur

In the case of Orpheus Even the Furies Wept, Pellet chose three barrels, with yeast from breweries Fantome, Drie Fonteinen, and Russian River. T

he second beer is a Brettanomyces heavy saison, aged in Sauternes barrels.  Total aging time for the beer in barrels is 18 months.

The story of Orpheus is a story of rebirth, first in his journey into and out of Hades, and finally in the transmigration of his soul not into the body of a swan. We pay tribute to this rebirth with every beer we put into barrels, to be transformed by its time in the wood and reborn as something new.

Orpheus Even the Furies Wept will be available starting August 10th at the brewery, with limited distribution to follow shortly after. This is the brewery’s first cork & caged offering.

Style: American Wild Ale (Wine Barrel Aged)
Availability: 750ml Bottles, Corked & Caged. Draft.
