100 scratch beers have now come and gone at the Tröegs brewery. Seems like just yesterday we were drinking Scratch 45 doesn’t it? Scratch 100 is a single hop pale ale using their Hop Gun filled with over 40 lbs of El Dorado hops. So far John Trogner is very pleased with the Hop Gun’s results stating “so far, it has proved to be the most efficient way to infuse hop oils into our beers.” Here’s to 100 more!

The first beer to get the Hop Gun treatment is now on tap at Tröegs tasting room. Meet XXX Perpetual IPA – a super dry hopped version of their year-round Perpetual IPA. It has a more potent hop flavor and aroma but the IBUs and ABV remain the same. Science is awesome. This beer isn’t exactly a Scratch beer but more of an experiment and is available while supplies last today during a firkin event.

Tröegs Brewing has released a limited supply of their Mad Elf scratch Naked Elf. To get Naked Elf Tröegs brews a beer very similar to Mad Elf only it lacks a few major components. Naked Elf has no cherries, honey, or chocolate malts. It is also much lower in ABV clocking in at 7.8%. Naked Elf is available now in limited supplies in cases and six packs at their general store and on draft for pints and growler fills in the tasting room.
