Terrapin Mosaic Back in Bottles

Terrapin Beer Company (Athens, GA) has just bottled Mosaic for the second time. The base beer is a red ale.

The mosaic hop is gaining a popularity amongst American craft brewers. Basically a child of Simcoe hops, many people call it Citra hops on steroids. It’s full of mango, tropical fruit, & citrus flavors.

For the round, Terrapin will reduce the bottle size from 22 ounces to 12 ounces.  Release details to follow.

Frozen Pints Teams with Terrapin For New Flavor

Atlanta based Frozen Pints (punny?) is on fire. The company makes ice cream with craft beer. I’m not talking about ice cream that just carries the flavor of beer. The final product is actually alcoholic.

Frozen Pints has done it again with a new seasonal release, Mint Chocolate Moo-Hoo. Teaming up with Terrapin Beer Co. in Athens, both now have tasty seasonals. Using Terrapin Moo-Hoo Chocolate Milk Stout, Frozen Pints added mint for a great twist to offset the namesake beer to pair it with.

If you are lucky (Atlanta and surrounding area) you’ll find this at a Frozen Pints establishment starting now. You’ve got to be 21+ to buy a pint. This dessert clocks in at 2.6% ABV.

Even more good news – founder Aly Moler tells me there are more seasonals in the works. Grab a spoon and don’t eat too fast.

Terrapin To Retire Big Hoppy Monster

Sad news for the lovers of Terrapin Beer Company’s Big Hoppy Monster. The brewery will retire it after this year.

Big Hoppy Monster, and Oak Big Hoppy Monster have both been successful for Terrapin. However, as the brewery grows, and the desire to experiment with new beers arises, someone needs some time off.

Big Hoppy just hit shelves in October. This is your last chance this oaked imperial red ale. It cellars nicely if you want to stock up.

Above – the last of this Monster sits in the warehouse in Athens, Georgia.

Beer Street Journal Video: Terrapin Releases White Chocolate Moo-Hoo

Terrapin Beer Co. (Athens, GA) has just shipped a very special spin on their late fall offering, Moo-Hoo. Brewmaster “Spike” and the team took their milk stout brewed with chocolate from Nashville’s Olive & Sinclair and added white chocolate to enhance the already dessert-like offering.

This is the first off a few new takes on tried and true favorites. Terrapin recently finished an expansion that allows them a little more room to experiment. White Chocolate is shipping now, and next month expect Cinnamon Roll’d Wake & Bake; and cinnamon-y twist on the oatmeal coffee stout.

Handing waxing, boxing and prepping the beer to ship is hard work as you can see above. Now shipping.

Style: Milk Stout (w/ Chocolate, White Chocolate)
Availability: 22oz bombers, limited Draft

6.1% ABV

Terrapin Side Project #21: Pineapple Express

You have a lot to be excited for from Terrapin Beer Co. (Athens, GA). For starters, Cinnamon Roll’d Wake & Bake, White Chocolate Moo Hoo, even a Pecan Pie collaboration with Cigar City Brewing.

Incoming is a follow up to Side Project #20, Dr. Krunkles White Farmhouse IPA, Pineapple Express. This newbie is the brainchild of Terrapin’s own.

Recently the brewery held an employee brew-off. Late night grilling (and drinking!) with friends inspired a slightly smoky offering brewed with chunks of fresh pineapple. The winning offering was born.

This smoked pineapple helles lager will be pulling into the station in the near future. Congratulations to Julia Weckback, Andy Dupras, John Lane, Rainey Lynch, Lily Swindle, Mike Wallace, and Chris Wright for your winning brew.

Style: Helles Lager (w/ Pineapple. Smoked)

Terrapin Creates Cinnamon Roll Wake and Bake ships again

Terrapin Cinnamon Roll’d Wake n Bake is rolling out once again. The most popular release in the brewery’s Special Reserve series starts shipping to distributors this week.

Terrapin Wake n’ Bake is one of the brewery’s most popular seasonals as well, so it comes as no surprise that a cinnamon spin on the annual favorite is just as popular. Unfortunately, just a little more rare.

The Terrapin Cinnamon Roll’d W-n-B has a delicious flavor of fresh “baked” cinnamon rolls that completes our version of breakfast in a glass.

Terrapin Cinnamon Roll’d Wake n Bake is a limited 22 ounce bottle & draft release.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Coffee, Cinnamon)
Availability: 22oz bottles
Return: Late November, 2015
