SweetWater Georgia Brown Slated for Cans

SweetWater Georgia Brown is slated for cans later this year. The brown ale is a year round offering by the Atlanta, Georgia brewery.

SweetWater launched their can lineup with 420 Extra Pale Ale, and IPA. Since then, Take Two Pils, and Waterkeeper have found aluminum.

A river of deep caramel malts meandering through undercut currents of hop additions.

In addition to SweetWater Georgia Brown, look for SweetWater Whiplash and completely new offering – SweetWater Hash Brown in cans later this year.  The brewery has not yet announced this offering.

SweetWater Whiplash Slated for Cans

SweetWater Whiplash, the brewery’s seasonal white IPA is slated for cans.

The Atlanta, Georgia based brewery released Whiplash in 2013 as a winter seasonal. Its popularity motivated SweetWater to bump up the release to late fall last year, dumping Motorboat. In 2015, SweetWater Whiplash takes aim at 12oz cans when it returns to the seasonal lineup.

SweetWater Whiplash features a hefty does of American hops, and a Belgian yeast strain.

Currently, the brewery cans 420 Extra Pale Ale, IPA, Take Two Pils, and Waterkeeper. SweetWater Hash Brown, a completely new can, looks to join the lineup this fall.

SweetWater Opens up Pittsburgh in June

SweetWater Brewing Company (Atlanta, GA) will open up Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a distribution state in June. The brewery has signed a distribution deal with Frank B. Fuhrer Wholesale.

Launch lineup includes (descriptions by SweetWater):

  • 420 Extra Pale Ale – SweetWater’s 420 is a West Coast style pale ale with big hops and a crisp finish. First brewed on April 20, 1997, 420 is extremely well-balanced which makes it a perfect introduction to a new town – that’s why they say “drink ‘em if you got ‘em!” Rolling out in 6-pack bottles, 12-pack cans and draft.
  • SweetWater IPA – This mammoth India Pale Ale (IPA) is dry-hopped to the gills delivering a kick-you-in-the-teeth hop chop. The brew is unfiltered to leave all the natural flavors intact. Rolling out in 6-pack bottles, 12-pack cans and draft.
  • Waterkeeper® Hefeweizen – A brew with a cause, this a go-to summer seasonal has notes of banana and clove and is perfect for sippin’ and grillin’ all season long. Rolling out late June in 6-pack bottles and on draft.
  • Take Two Pils – A golden blonde German pilsner brewed with spicy floral hops and a head-first trip down the rabbit hole of lagers. Rolling out in 6-pack bottles, 12-pack cans and draft.
  • Hop Hash – Made with pure hop lupulin (aka “hash”) from hop pelletizers, this double IPA is among the dankest out there delivering a pungent punch to the palate. Rolling out in 6-pack bottles and on draft.
  • SweetWater Blue – SweetWater Blue is a unique, lighter-bodied wheat ale enhanced with blueberries. This ain’t no fruit beer, but it’s perfect for hanging on a warm Pittsburgh day. Rolling out in 6-pack bottles.
  • SweetWater Tackle Box – The SweetWater Tackle Box variety pack is a hefty 12-pack collection featuring three of SweetWater’s favorite year-round brews, along with a fourth catch and release seasonal specialty in each box.

SweetWater 420 Fest Double IPA Arrives in April

SweetWater Brewery’s (Atlanta, GA) next Dank Tank Series offering celebrates eleven years of their popular 420 fest.

SweetWater 420 Fest Double IPA features an 8% imperial IPA using lemon drop hops and a new experimental breed.

100% Marris Otter grain for clean, malty profile and brewed to yield a full body to balance the high hop bitterness. Hop flavors and aromas are grapefruit, lemon herbal, black currant, and mint. This Double IPA is a great citrusy beer for a warm weather fest!

The 2015 festival features headline acts like Snoop Dog, 311, and Primus, just to name a few. The brewery will sneak preview this beer at the brewery on March 26th, at 4:20 pm.

22oz bottles of SweetWater 420 Fest Double IPA will flow to the markets shortly after.

Beer Street Journal Video: Inside SweetWater 18 Belgian-style Tripel

SweetWater Brewing Company turns 18 this month. To celebrate the milestone, the brewery will release SweetWater 18 Belgian-style Tripel. It marks the 4th, anniversary offering.

SweetWater’s Zak Ray runs down 18, the brewery’s first corked and caged offering. SweetWater purchased the bottle filler from Brooklyn Brewery. 18 will kick off a line of special corked and caged offerings, including a sour ale later this year.

SweetWater 18 uses Ardennes yeast, Centennial, Amarillo, Sterling and Saaz hops. Then bottled conditioned prior to shipping.

SweetWater Expands Distribution To Texas & Maryland

SweetWater Brewing Company (Atlanta, GA) will expand distribution to Texas and Maryland. The brewery will be shipping the lineup to both states starting in February.

SweetWater has signed distribution deals in Maryland with Kelly Distributing covering Easton, MD; Wantz Distributing covering Frederick, MD; Guy Distributing covering Leonardtown, MD; Mitchell Beverages covering Baltimore and Annapolis, MD; Bob Hall Distributing covering College Park, MD; andEastern Shore Distributing covering Salisbury, MD.

SweetWater in Texas will be covered by Silver Eagle Distributing for Houston and San Antonio metro area markets in Texas.

“Tapping into these great states is huge for us,” said SweetWater Founder and Big Kahuna, Freddy Bensch. “Kicking off 2015 by spreading out both north and the west with some tremendous distributor partners is amazing.  Just a few years back we were doing everything we could to keep the beer flowing in our backyard, but now we are more than ready to bring our brews downstream. I can’t wait to raise a few coldies with some fine folks in both Texas and Maryland and check out the local fishing scenes!”

SweetWater turns 18 in February, and will debut a special Belgian-style tripel for the occasion. Later this year, the brewery will debut it’s first sour beer, new canned offerings, and more distribution markets.
