SweetWater’s Troutmobile Is A Fully Functional Fish [Video]

SweetWater created the “Troutmobile” for this Saturday’s Red Bull Soapboxrace in Atlanta. Artist John Dunn did the artwork (as he has done for a lot of SweetWater stuff, especially the big murals. He’s wearing the hipster hat.), and a local hot rod shop did the body frame.  As you can see, it’s a full functioning fish.

SweetWater Waterkeeper Back For Year 2

SweetWater Brewing’s Waterkeeper Hefeweizen is headed back to shelves.  Starting in late May (read: now) is hitting southeastern tap handles.   Last year, Waterkeeper Hefeweizen debuted to raise awareness of the Waterkeeper Alliances around the south. The brewery gets it’s water from the infamous Chattahoochie River that flows near the city of Atlanta.  To date, SweetWater has earned $350,000 toward the campaign.

Waterkeeper® Hefeweizen is cloudy golden in color, brewed with wheat and two-row barley malt, and Sterling and Hallertau hops. A refreshing brew for summer in the South, this Hefeweizen ale rings in at 5.7% ABV and underneath its fluffy white head it delivers banana and clove notes from the Bavarian Hefeweizen yeast with a hint of lemon.

In addition to the Chattahoochee Waterkeeper they began work with Waterkeepers® across the Southeast including: Neuse Riverkeeper Foundation and French Broad Riverkeeper in North Carolina, Charleston Waterkeeper in South Carolina,  Black Warrior Riverkeeper and Mobile Baykeeper in Alabama, along with Apalachicola Riverkeeper and St. Johns Riverkeeper in Florida.

SweetWater will host their first-ever regional concert series this year featuring bluegrass band and headlining act Railroad Earth.   The series kicks off on June 20-24, touring Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston and Jacksonville with Waterkeeper Hefeweizens flowing at each show. SweetWater Brewery Announces The Return Of Waterkeeper (PR)

SWEETWATER BREWERY ANNOUNCES RETURN OF WATERKEEPER® HEFEWEIZEN

Raising awareness and funding for Southeast Waterkeeper® Alliance members one brew at a time

ATLANTA (May 21, 2012) — SweetWater Brewing Company today announced the return of its Waterkeeper® Hefeweizen to their Catch and Release seasonal lineup. The unfiltered wheat ale will be rolling out in limited release on draft at participating restaurants and retailers across the Southeast late this May.

“I bet folks don’t know this, but it takes a lot of water to brew our beers,” said Founder and Big Kahuna Freddy Bensch. “What better way to get the community involved in promoting clean water and conserving our coastlines than to take our mission to the next level, and dedicate a tasty brew to the cause.”

Waterkeeper® Hefeweizen made its debut in 2011 as a way for SweetWater to raise awareness and proceeds to benefit local Waterkeeper® Alliance organizations throughout the Southeast. The brewery will be making waves again this year as it kicks off campaigns Memorial Day weekend running through July 4.

Since the start of their efforts with Atlanta’s own Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper® nearly six years ago, SweetWater has raised more than $350,000 for the cause. With such success, they began work with Waterkeepers® across the Southeast including: Neuse Riverkeeper® Foundation and French Broad Riverkeeper® in North Carolina, Charleston Waterkeeper® in South Carolina,  Black Warrior Riverkeeper® and Mobile Baykeeper® in Alabama, along with Apalachicola Riverkeeper® and St. Johns Riverkeeper® in Florida.

Raising the bar even higher, SweetWater will host their first-ever regional concert series this year featuring bluegrass band and headlining act Railroad Earth. The concert series will hit the road June 20-24, touring Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston and Jacksonville with Waterkeeper® Hefeweizens flowing at each show. SweetWater Brewery Campaigns To “Save The Hooch” One Brew At A Time (PR)

SWEETWATER BREWERY CAMPAIGNS TO “SAVE THE HOOCH” ONE BREW AT A TIME

Annual campaign with Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper® kicks off Memorial Day Weekend

ATLANTA (May 15, 2012) — SweetWater Brewing Company is gearing up once again for their 6th annual “Save the Hooch” conservation campaign in support of Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper® (UCR). Not only does the Chattahoochee River provide drinking water for more than four million Atlantans, but it is also the main ingredient for SweetWater’s lip-smackin’ brews. Since joining forces with UCR in 2006, the efforts are now more important as ever as the river was just listed No. 3 on the nation’s top 10 most endangered rivers list by American Rivers.

SweetWater’s campaign efforts will begin Memorial Day weekend and continue through July 4, offering beer drinkers, bar patrons and residents of metro Atlanta the chance to “Give of Your Liver to Save the River” by visiting participating accounts and purchasing paper fish, commemorative t-shirts or SweetWater’s seasonal Waterkeeper® ale. Proceeds from these efforts will go towards patrolling, protecting and preserving the Chattahoochee River.

“I have spent a lot of time on Atlanta’s waters since moving to Georgia in ’96 to start the brewery, and I’ve seen a lot of the issues firsthand,” said SweetWater Founder and Big Kahuna Freddy Bensch. “Keeping our water clean is a cause I think we can all believe in, and we’ll continue to do anything we can to help raise awareness and funding for the great folks who are out there every day protecting our water.”

In 2011, SweetWater launched its Waterkeeper® Hefeweizen, a great beer with a great cause, as part of the campaign in which proceeds benefit regional Waterkeeper Alliance® organizations. Now part of their seasonal Catch and Release line-up, the Hefeweizen brew will return to draft taps on limited release this May to help ramp up awareness and donations.

With the combined proceeds from the ale and campaign promotions, SweetWater raised a whopping $93,000 last year, a substantial increase from years prior. SweetWater has proudly raised more than $350,000, and several coldies, since campaign conception.

The success of the “Save the Hooch” campaign inspired SweetWater to expand their reach throughout the region to other communities and their local Waterkeeper® organizations with their distribution markets, including: the Neuse Riverkeeper® and French Broad Riverkeeper® in North Carolina, the Charleston Waterkeeper® in South Carolina, the Black Warrior Riverkeeper® and Mobile Baykeeper® in Alabama, and the Apalachicola Riverkeeper® and St. Johns Riverkeepers® in Florida.

Raising the bar even higher, SweetWater will host their first-ever regional concert series this year featuring the headlining act and bluegrass band Railroad Earth. The concert series will hit the road June 20-24 touring Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston and Jacksonville. All proceeds benefit each city’s local Waterkeeper® organization.

ABOUT UPPER CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVERKEEPER®:

Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper® is a nonprofit environmental organization that, since 1994, has actively worked to protect the Chattahoochee River from its birthplace at a small spring in the mountains above Helen to West Point Lake downstream of Atlanta. SweetWater’s Lauter Tun Gets A Police Escort

SweetWater Brewing Company has started into their 2nd phase of their massive expansion.  This week they received a brand new 250 barrel lauter tun.  It arrived in Jacksonville, Florida 4 weeks ago.  Due to the size of the tun, the times the piece of equipment could travel on the road was restricted.  The Georgia State Patrol personally escorted the lauter tun down to Ottley Drive in Atlanta.
