First Look: SweetWater SpinnerBait [VIDEO]

SweetWater Brewery (Atlanta, GA) nixed fall seasonal Motorboat in order to bump up last winter’s hit release – Whiplash White IPA. That left a spot open for a new winter seasonal to bolster the cold weather lineup – SweetWater Spinnerbait.

SweetWater is known for their love of hops, but for Spinnerbait, the brewery went a different direction. A Belgian direction. Spinnerbait is a Belgian-style red brewed with candi sugar, that goes easy on the aggressive hops. This allows the Ardennes yeast to do the flavor work.

SweetWater Spinnerbait hits shelves starting this week in 12oz bottles, draft, and in the Tacklebox variety pack.

Head brewer Nick Nock gives you the rundown in the Beer Street Journal video above.

Style: Belgian-Style Red Ale (w/ Candi Sugar)
Hops: Willamette, US Golding, Columbus
Malts: 2-Row, Pilsner, Wheat, Black Wheat

Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. Dec-Feb

6% ABV

SweetWater’s Hop Hash is Bitter. So is Diggs. [VIDEO]

SweetWater Brewing Company (Atlanta, GA) new year round offering is Hop Hash Infused Double IPA. Loosely based on recent Dank Tank release Johnny Hash, the new offering uses “hop hash” in boil to make a hoppy, sticky, beer experience.

While the brewery was away at the Great American Beer Festival, Diggs, part of SweetWater’s social media and marketing department was stuck at the brewery.

As you can see, he was a little bitter about it.
