Stone’s Sublimely Coming To 12oz Bottles

Stone Brewing Co’s Sublimely Self Righteous Ale will find small bottles this summer according to a local Stone rep. The game changing black IPA has previously only been available in 22 oz bombers and draft.  First brewed in 2007.

First brewed in 2007 as the Stone 11th Anniversary Ale, this ale was an instant hit. With us. Other folks with great taste loved it too, but we were focused on how much we liked it, and we felt it was truly sublime. That euphoria didn’t last long though, as it was soon replaced with the grim reality that when we sold out of it there wouldn’t be any more.

Style: Black IPA

8.7% ABV

Dogfish Head/Victory/Stone Saison Du Buff [Video]

Enjoy the offical 2012 video for the Dogfish Head/Victory/Stone Saison Du Buff collaboration.  This year marks the second release of the beer, that has taken 10 years to be fullyl realized.

Back in 2003, three intrepid craft brewers formed Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor, or BUFF, to bring publicity to their crusade for artfully crafted, flavorful beers. To further the cause, Sam Calagione, Bill Covaleski, and Greg Koch got together in 2010 to brew an audacious collaboration beer enhanced with parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. Emboldened by the beer’s enthusiastic reception, the BUFF team reconvened in 2012 to brew an updated version with lemon thyme from Stone Farms. And the rest is history…

Stone Puts Chocolate Cherry In Rye Whiskey

Jason Fields and Kevin Sheppard’s previous homebrew contest winning Cherry Chocolate Stout will find it’s way into rye whiskey barrels soon. The beer was brewed last year as a three-way collaboration between the home brews, Stone Brewing Co, and Troegs Brewing.   Cherry Chocolate Stout is brewed with 250 lbs of cocoa, vanilla beans, and sour cherries.

This was a ton of fun to brew  So far, the most memorable part about it was sampling the first wort which had been mashed with lots of specialty grains and about 250 lbs of pure cocoa.  It was amazingly smooth, velvety sweet, and rich with chocolate.  I felt like I was tasting the luscious sweetness of a chocolate river. It was a natural match to age this brew in rye whiskey barrels.  – Mitch Steele (Head Brewer, Stone Brewing Co.)

While the bottles don’t have the Quingenti Millilitre series explicitly on the label anymore, this edition joins a series of very small batch, barrel aged brews.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Vanilla Beans, Chocolate, CherriesBarrel Aged)
Availability: 5oo ml bottles
Arrival: TBA

Stone Smoked Porter Variations Arrive (PR)

Special limited Stone Smoked Porter versions bottled for the first time

(Escondido, CA | June 18, 2012) — There comes a time in every beer’s life when it wants to branch out. Try something new. Be adventurous. And while the beloved Stone Smoked Porter–first released in December 1996–has certainly gotten some special treatment over the years, the resulting variations have only been available on a very limited basis on tap or as a rare growler fill. Until now.

A limited number of 12 oz. bottles of Stone Smoked Porter w/ Vanilla Bean and Stone Smoked Porter w/ Chipotle Peppers are making their way to select markets beginning on June 18.

“Stone Smoked Porter is one of the unsung champions of our lineup,” asserts Greg Koch, CEO & Co-Founder of Stone Brewing Co. “It vies for the title of “most food-friendly” of our beers, and the breadth of its ability becomes even more evident in these two delicious variants.”

Stone Smoked Porter w/ Vanilla Bean was first brewed in late 2006 as the brainchild of Stone Brewing Co.’s Small Batch Brewer, Laura Ulrich. Inspired by having Stone Smoked Porter poured over a scoop of vanilla ice cream, she had a stroke of brilliance and history was made.

Stone Smoked Porter w/ Chipotle Peppers was conceived in May 2006 as an idea from Merchandise Manager Chris Carroll, who proposed making a spicy one-off beer as a special Cinco de Mayo growler fill. Originally dubbed “South of the Border Stone Smoked Porter,” the resulting beer was an incredible interplay of roast, smoke, and a touch of heat, and has remained a popular, albeit rare, treat ever since.

“For now, these are one-time bottlings,” continues Koch, “but we reserve the right to change our mind about that at any time.” Fans are invited to share their thoughts on each version at http://www.stonebrewing.com/VanillaOrChipotle
