Starr Hill Updates Logo, Packaging

Still Hill Brewery (Charlottesville, VA) updated their logo earlier this year, and now the brewery’s packaging as well has gotten a facelift.

Starr Hill has partnered with Charlottesville-based design shop, Storyware, to develop the brand and artwork for the updated packaging and website.

“This new imagery absolutely elevates our look to the level of our beer through consistency and quality,” said Brian McNelis, Starr Hill’s President and CEO. “We believe these new designs will resonate with our devoted fans, as it truly does with our team at the brewery, and encourage those new to Starr Hill to discover our award-winning beers.”

Starr Hill’s core brands such as Northern Lights IPA, Grateful Pale Ale, The Love Wheat Beer, Double Platinum Imperial IPA and Jomo Vienna-Style Lager are the first with the new artwork. Seasonal releases will be updated as they return throughout the year.

Starr Hill Brewery Adds Alabama

Starr Hill Brewery (Charlottesville, VA) is expanding distribution to Alabama in April, 2015. The brewery has signed a distribution deal with Supreme Beverage.

“We’re excited to introduce Starr Hill’s robust portfolio of beers to Alabama,” said Duke Fox, Starr Hill’s VP of Sales. “With the growing demand for quality craft beer, our team looks forward to any opportunity to impress savvy beer drinkers when they discover Starr Hill.”

Launch brands include Northern Lights IPA, Grateful Pale Ale and The Love Wheat Beer. King of Hop Imperial IPA of the All Access Series, Whiter Shade of Pale White IPA and Shakedown Imperial Chocolate Cherry Stout will follow shortly after.

Starr Hill Reviver Red IPA Now Available

Starr Hill Brewery (Charlottesville, VA) has released their new spring seasonal, Reviver Red IPA. The India pale ale uses Mosaic hops, dry-hopped with the brewery’s hop cannon.

“It’s always exciting working with new hop varieties, specifically Mosaic for this recipe,” said Robbie O’Cain, Starr Hill’s Brewmaster. “The wonderful thing about IPAs is the ability to develop new and interesting hop blends. The possibilities are endless, which is why you see so much growth in a category where you can continuously tweak and experiment.”

Starr Hill Reviver Red IPA is available in 12oz bottles and draft. The brewery is throwing a special launch party for the brewery on February 8th.

Starr Hill Expands Distribution to Knoxville, Tennessee

Starr Hill Brewery (Charlottesville, VA) is expanding distribution to Knoxville, Tennessee this month. The brewery has signed a distribution deal with Eagle Distributing Company.

First up to ship is Northern Lights IPA, and Grateful Pale Ale. Additionally, drinkers can expect the new spring release, Reviver Red IPA, and limited releases from the All Access Series like Little Red Roostarr Coffee Cream Stout, and Shakedown Imperial Chocolate Cherry Stout throughout the year, depending on the brew schedule.

“Based on Starr Hill’s success in Central and Eastern Tennessee, we’re focused on satisfying the customers’ growing demand for quality craft beer in Knoxville,” said Brian McNelis, Starr Hill’s President and CEO. “We’re also encouraged to see the Volunteer State move on legislation that creates a more favorable climate in which craft breweries can prosper.”

Starr Hill Kicks off 2015 with New Series, New Beer

Starr Hill Brewery (Charlottesville, VA) kicks off 2015 with a new series and new beer.

Starr Hill Debut#1 Belgian Tripel is the initial offering in the brewery’s Debut Series. Debut will have six releases, spanning different styles and brewing techniques.

“We’ve had tremendous success recently with our limited-release beers, such as the All Access Series, where we’ve been able to experiment with an extensive array of beer styles,” said Robbie O’Cain, Manager of Brewery Operations. “The Debut Series is another opportunity for the Starr Hill team to get creative with the brewing process, broaden our knowledge of new and established beer styles, and showcase our ability to brew excellent beers.”

Starr Hill Debut #1 is a Belgian-style tripel, brewed with coriander, and Saaz hops. Draft only.

    – Gold Medal for Best IPA in Virginia at the Virginia Craft Brewers’ Festival.
  • Whiter Shade of Pale White IPA
    – Available July–September, this is a refreshing marriage of two bold beer styles: the Belgian Wit and the IPA.

Starr Hill Shakedown Imperial Chocolate Cherry Stout on Halloween

The sixth and final offering in Starr Hill’s (Charlottesville, VA) All Access Series is Shakedown Chocolate Cherry Stout. The beer features chocolate and cherries added during fermentation.

“Shakedown Chocolate Cherry Stout was a fun project. Experimenting with natural ingredients is an essential part of Starr Hill’s DNA. With Shakedown, the use of cherry puree and cocoa powder made the brewing process a real challenge,” said Robbie O’Cain, Starr Hill’s Manager of Brewery Operations.

Starr Hill Shakedown Imperial Chocolate Cherry Stout will debut on Halloween in the brewery’s taproom. Distribution to follow shortly after.
