Ska Mexican Logger seasonal release marks 20 years

Ska Mexican Logger

It may not look like spring in Durango, Colorado, but the return of Ska Mexican Logger means it’s close.

While Mexican lagers have increased in popularity in recent years, Ska Brewing has been releasing this beer since 1999. That’s longer than half the craft breweries in the United States have been around. The brewery touts this as Colorado’s first craft lager in a can when it hit aluminum in 2011.

The 5% alcohol by volume lager is brewed with a lager yeast strain from Mexico City – the same strain that also ferments Ska’s Rue B. Soho Grapefruit.

Crisp, clean, and refreshing — made for hot afternoons with a side of lime.

Ska Mexican Logger is available in 12-ounce cans and draft from March 20th through Summer 2019.

Style: Vienna Lager
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft Seasonal Release.
Distribution: Colorado, Arizona, Southern California, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Utah.

Pale ale & bourbon barrels meet in Ska Brewing Dementia

Ska Brewing Dementia

Ska Brewing Dementia officially released ahead of this holiday season. Take Euphoria, the Durango, Colorado based brewery’s winter pale ale, and add it to bourbon barrels. Out comes Dementia, a new toasty winter seasonal.

Those familiar with Euphoria are already familiar with a large portion of this beer. You’ll notice this beer is not as fresh and crisp as the year-rounder, thanks to the extra time it has spent in oak. The bourbon very much makes up that small transgression. Dementia is great beer to pair/ offset the richness of the pounds of holiday foods you are trying to finish off.

“Peach aromas, caramel sweetness and a touch of chocolate and toast provide a boozy and earthy essence. It is the perfect winter warmer.” -Thomas Larsen, Headbrewer.

Ska Brewing Dementia is available for a limited time in 22oz bottles within Ska Brewing’s largest markets; Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Southern California and Illinois.

Style: Pale Ale (Barrel Aged. Bourbon.)
Availability:
Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Southern California and Illinois. Limited release.
Release:
November, 2016

Ska Hop Ivy, brewed with all Colorado everything

Ska Hop Ivy

Ska Hop Ivy is now available in cans – the brewery’s first canned beer sourced entirely from Colorado ingredients.

Loosely based on one of Ska’s other beers, Hoperation Ivy, a wet hop ale with local hops, Ska Hop Ivy showcases locally grown Chinook and Nugget hops. Both hops were harvested at Simply Grown LLC hop farm in Palisade, Colorado. The malts are grown and malted at Colorado Malting Co. in Alamos.

The local sourcing doesn’t stop there. The yeast is from the Brewing Science Institute in Woodland Park. The brewery also used snowmelt from the San Juan Mountains.

“Hop Ivy is a tribute to Colorado’s many local farmers,” says Ska Co-founder and Colorado native, Bill Graham.  “Using local harvest in the brewing process and selling the finished product within the state supports the economy and the wellbeing of Colorado—our home.”

Ska Hop Ivy is available in 12 ounce cans across the state of Colorado.

Style: IPA
Hops: Chinook, Nugget

Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft
Debut: May, 2016

Epic and Ska Brewing team up on a barrel-aged peach IPA

Epic Skeptic Barrel-Aged Peach IPA 2016

Colorado breweries Epic Brewing and Ska Brewing will debut a new collaboration beer on March 19th – Skeptic Barrel-Aged Peach IPA.

The new beer encompasses each of the brewery’s individual strong points. In the case of Epic – barrel-aging and the fruit. For Ska, hops. The result – Skeptic Barrel-Aged Peach IPA.

We like to view the world with a rational eye, and that’s the beauty of this beer. Share it with a friend – discuss UFO’s, the existence of a soul, how could homing pigeons possibly have ESP, who shot JFK… One thing’s for certain: this collaboration between Epic and Ska, aged in Peach Street Peach Brandy Barrels, is something you can believe in.

Skeptic Barrel-Aged Peach IPA will debut at Collaboration Fest, put on by the Colorado Brewers Guild on March 19th. Distribution across Colorado, and parts of the U.S. to follow after.

Style: IPA (w/ Peaches. Barrel Aged. Peach Brandy.)
