A band called The Famous is a San Francisco based band with a new music video/ theme song for the ubiquitous Pliny The Elder.  The song was debuted at Russian River founder Vinnie Cilurzo’s 40th birthday party.

Start Getting In Line, Pliny The Younger Returns 2/3/12

In a new blog post, Russian River mentioned the first time they will see one of the most sought after beers in the world – Pliny The Younger.

One quick thing about Pliny the Younger- we will be releasing it at the pub on February 3, 2012. It will be available for 14 days, no growlers, we are not bottling it, and it will be distributed in limited amounts as usual. I will provide more later as it gets closer, but that is all the information available right now! So no need to email us as we don’t know anything else at this time. We haven’t even made it!

Draft only, released at the pub.  Anyone selling it online, or trading for it is ripping you off.

Russian River Releases Winemakers Session Beer, Framboise For A Cure Back Soon

Russian River Brewing is busy brewing at capacity.   Everything they make, they sell – with no new markets planned in the future.  (Just enjoy the gem of a brewery when you can!)

A couple of interesting notes, RR just released a pub & to-go only brew called.  “It Takes A Lot of Great Beer To Make Great Wine.” That long title of a beer is a “winemaker’s session ale” Vinnie Ciluruzo has been kicking around for a while.  Brewed for those winemakers in and around California about to go through the grape harvest.  Growlers at the pub, and 500ml to go bottles only.

The brewpub is undergoing some deep cleaning and “acoustical improvements.”

Also, “Framboise For A Cure” is coming back this October.  The sour ale with raspberries benefits the Sutter Health & Breast Care Center of Santa Rosa.  In addition to the beer release, the brewery raffles off a pink vespa.   Details on the event to be announced soon. [RussianRiver]

Sierra Nevada Exportation Aged In Russian River Barrels

Exportation Ale is a draft only offering from Sierra Nevada Brewing.  Google yields a tapping event for this beer during Philly Beer Week 2011.

Teresa’s Cafe in Wayne, Pennsylvania will host a special tapping for Exportation June 9th, 5pm.  Teresa provides this description:

If you liked ExPorter, imagine it aged in Dumol Pinot Noir Barrels at Russian River for nearly a year…

No word on how many barrels produced.

Russian River & Sierra Nevada To Play Again

It’s good to have friends at the Craft Brewers Conference, even when you can’t be there.  Some big talk is circulating around CBC about Russian River Brewing collaborating with Sierra Nevada Brewing again.  There has been one other collaboration between the breweries, a sour brown ale released at the CBC in 4 pks.

The new collaboration is planned to be distributed nationally to all areas currently receiving Sierra Nevada. The details on the new collaboration are unclear.  The text message I received said “pale ale with brett.”
