Founders Blushing Monk returns after multi-year hiatus

Founders  Blushing Monk makes a return to the brewery’s Limited Release Series in 2019.

Back by popular demand Blushing Monk, considered the older, boozier sibling to raspberry heavy Rubaeus is the first release in the brewery’s Limited Series in 2019. The fruit beer is fermented with a Belgian yeast strain on a “abundance” of raspberries.

Fruit-forward ferment aromas and spice esters combine with an abundance of raspberries for a tart and luscious, raspberry-jam character.

Creature Comforts Mouse Mask IPA, a nod to musician Danger Mouse

Creature Comforts Mouse Mask debuts at the brewery in Athens, Georgia on January 4th.

The latest limited edition release from the team at Creature Comforts. ‘Mouse Mask’ is an India pale ale, brewed with Simcoe, Idaho 7, and Strata hops.

Per Emily Sabula, Communications Specialist with the brewery “The name of the beer is actually not a reference to Deadmau5, but it is a nod to Danger Mouse – he spent some time here in Athens, GA – he was a radio DJ at the hyper-local WUOG, remixed some Neutral Milk Hotel, spun records at Compadres, and was plugged into the vibrant music scene here in multiple ways. Mouse Mask (a name referencing that he would wear mouse costumes during sets) is an IPA & a celebration of a favorite musician of ours & the time he spent in our little town of Athens.”

Fans wanting to get their hands on this release can reserve 4-packs of Creature Comforts Mouse Mask now on the CraftCellr phone app (opens in new window).

Style: IPA
Hops: Strata, Idaho 7, Simcoe

Availability: 16oz Cans, Draft. Brewery only release.
Debut: 1/4/19

6% ABV

Editors Note: With the name “Mouse Mask” and a turn table, we thought DeadMau5, not Danger Mouse, which we, and the brewery, have clarified.

More milkshake in 2019. Full Sail Malted Milkshake Style IPA hits shelves

If you expected styles like the “milkshake IPA” to die off in 2019, you might think again. Full Sail Malted Milkshake Style IPA is hitting the market.

The India pale ale went from clear to hazy (New England Style IPA). Then from hazy to lactose and fruit heavy (milkshake IPA). Oregon’s Full Sail has been experimenting with milkshake style and has settled on a recipe to ship nationally. The brewery has dubbed it the Malted Milkshake Style IPA, brewed with oats, wheat and lactose milk sugar.

“With Malted Milkshake, we really nailed it. It’s unfiltered, not bitter, and there’s tons of aroma packed into a full-bodied, creamy IPA.” – Full Sail Brewmaster Greg Doss

Full Sail Malted Milkshake Style IPA is now available in 12-ounce bottles and draft for a limited time.

Style: IPA (Milkshake IPA) w/ Lactose
Hops: Ekuanot, Denali, Comet, Citra, Cascade

This time it’s not an IPA. Stone Tropic of Thunder Lager debuts nationally

From one of the most popular purveyors of hops comes something a little different this month – a lager. Stone Tropic of Thunder Lager ships nationally this week.

Citra and Mosaic and rising star Cashmere are the hop stars of this craft lager, which boasts flavors of pineapple, citrus and coconut. In their descriptions, Stone wants you to think of this lager as a desert island beer.

Mainstays Citra & Mosaic along with newcomer Cashmere hops are joined by their juicy tropical aromas of citrus, pineapple and coconut (try stringing all that together in a catchy tune). The rescue ship will find you all soon enough. For now, set aside the non-working cell phone and lack of social media (again, work with us here), kick back and revel in your moment of tropical island lagoon serenity.

Stone Tropic of Thunder Lager is available in 12-ounce cans and draft nationally starting in January 2019.

Style: Lager
Hops: Citra, Mosaic, Cashmere
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
