New Belgium Officially Welcomes Dig [Video]

You might have already seen New Belgium’s newest Dig Pale Ale on shelves where you live.  Dig replaced Mighty Arrow as the spring seasonal. (Lets just say early, early, spring.)  Check out New Belgium’s backstory on Dig, along with a video.

Ft. Collins, CO, January 31, 2012 — New Belgium Brewing (www.newbelgium.com) today announced the arrival of its 2012 spring seasonal, Dig Pale Ale.  Dig offers a robust line-up of hops, opening with the Sorachi Ace strain, which provides a fresh citric snap.  Nelson Sauvin hops follow with bursts of passion fruit, mango and peach.  Cascade and Centennial hops round out this crisp pale ale.  Dig is available in most New Belgium markets through April and ABV is 5.6 percent.

With a nod to community-supported agriculture, Dig’s label, name and local promotions will focus on sustainable farming.  Keep an eye on New Belgium’s Facebook page and your local Ranger Facebook page to learn more about agriculture-focused events and organizations in your neck of the woods.

“Dig celebrates the medley of ingredients and hard work necessary to yield the beer and food we love,” said New Belgium brewer Grady Hull.  “With Dig in hand, we’d like to toast the farmers and land which make what we do possible.”

Chocolatey, Spicy, Chili Beer From New Belgium Hitting Shelves

The latest Lips Of Faith creation from New Belgium Brewing Cocoa Mole arrives this week.  Mole combines chocolate and chilis for a flavor roller coaster in a glass.

Chocolate, cinnamon and chilies combine for a sweet and spicy burst of fun in the newest Lips of Faith offering, Cocoa Mole. Brewed with pale, cara-mel-80, chocolate, dark chocolate malts and healthy dash of chocolate rye, Cocoa Mole presents midnight dark with a subtle reddish hue, lifting a pillowy, burnished head. The cocoa and cinnamon accompany plentiful ancho, guajillo and chipotle chilies to bring the mole merriment to the forefront. Cocoa Mole starts on the tongue with the sweet and finishes with the fine-spun heat of peppers. A worldly contrast in a glass, this beer will get you dancing with Mexican Hats. Ole!

New Belgium’s Mothership Wit On Hiatus In 2012

It’s been out of stock for a few weeks now, and then removed from price lists in 2012. I’m talking about New Belgium’s Mothership Wit.  That warranted a little investigation.  As it turns out, New Belgium will be placing Mothership Wit on indefinite hiatus at the end of this year.  Wit is New Belgium’s first organic beer, made with copious amounts of wheat.

The brewery just released Prickly Passion Saison, and Fresh Hop Ale, both bombers on shelves & tap handles right now.  Also, seasonal favorite Frambozen is currently available.

There are a host of new beers coming soon from New Belgium, including Shift Pale Lager (16oz cans), Dig, Cocoa Mole, & more.  New Belgium also plans on announcing an east coast facility in 2012.

More On New Belgium Shift Lager Cans

I knew the Coloradoan would be mentioning this today.  As you see from the sexy artwork above that New Belgium’s newest – Shift Pale Lager will come in tallboys when the brewery finishes the canning line installation.  That will bring you 3 tallboy offerings – Fat Tire (touted as sweeter in the can), Ranger IPA, and Shift.  Also, I was informed at the brewery that the new canning line will bring canned offering to accounts that don’t have have them already. RE: Southeast.

The second beer is a pale lager called Shift, and is named after the brewery’s free beer after each shift policy for employees and the brewery’s transitional period. Shift will only be released in the brewery’s new 16-ounce cans that are come off the new canning line under construction. The Shift can logo has a silver bicycle chain and gears on it.

The beer is still in development and Simpson said the release date will hinge on when the canning line is completed.

New Belgium, Cheesesteaks, Liberty Bell, Roy Halladay?

For those of you that don’t watch what breweries are doing like it’s an episode of Days Of Our Lives, New Belgium Brewing is eyeing the east coast.  Where is of course up in the air, but Philadelphia has emerged as a front runner.    The brewery just expanded into Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C, Philly has a great beer culture, and is close to a lot of valuable logistics networks.  A great spot for and east coast expansion.

In addition to Philly – Asheville, North Carolina is on the list.  Which is also being targeted by Sierra Nevada for an east coast build.  [Coloradoan]

New Belgium Cocoa Mole Hits Lips In 2012

New Belgium Cocoa MoleA new addition to New Belgium’s Lips Of Faith Series coming in 2012 Cocoa Mole.

Say hola to a spiced up ale full of cocoa, and ancho, guajillo, chipotle peppers, but don’t fear the head, because plenty of caramel and chocolate malts bring a smooth, complex flavor, scents of cinnamon when poured will have a saying “idle for mole!”
