Monday Night Spirit Animal, the Brewery’s First Sour

Monday Night Spirit Animal takes aim at the brewery’s elite Black Tie Series in 2015. Important to note, this beer is a sour.

Monday Night’s Black Tie Series has featured medal winning Bourbon Barrel Aged Drafty Kilt (a scotch ale), Master Splinter (Imperial red ale) and Hipster Fresh Hop Harvest, just to name a few. A sour beer changes the game a bit.

Crouching below the surface, hidden in the bubbles, prowling in the tang of the yeast of Spirit Animal, is a wolf. Wild and untamed, this sour ale echoes a time when beer was fermented in the open air in the moonlight.

This wolf is hungry, and he’s preying on your tastebuds. Prepare to be smote. Smiled. Smitten. Whatever.

Monday Night Spirit Animal is aged on toasted French oak and rose hips. Available in 22oz bottles. Monday Night tells Beer Street Journal that Spirit Animal is nearly ready, and will be shooting for an early July release.

A Beer Street Journal video short is coming soon.

Style: American Wild Ale (w/ Rose Hips, Oak Aged)
Hops: Chinook, Columbus, Willamette
Malts: Pilsner, Wheat

Availability: 22oz Bottles, Draft.
Release: Early July, 2015

5.5% ABV, 15 IBUs

Now Is Your Chance to Design Monday Night’s Next Clip On Series Release

Monday Night Brewing (Atlanta, GA) has just released their Serrano Eye Patch Ale in six packs for the first time. This is the first release in a new Clip-On Series. The best part? You don’t just get to drink these new beers, you get to be involved in the process.

Monday Night Serrano Eye Patch is riff on their year round English-style IPA, Eye Patch Ale. Using fresh cut serrano peppers, the result is a spicer take on a usual suspect. This is where you come in.

Monday Night has enlisted Beer Street Journal’s audience’s help to create the next beers in the series. So it’s time to get creative. Monday Night’s year round lineup includes Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale, Nerd Alert Pseudo-pilsner, Blind Pirate Imperial IPA, Fu ManBrew Ginger Wit, and of course- Eye Patch IPA. Using these base recipes as inspiration, time to make it your own. Monday Night already got you started with Serrano Eye Patch. Now you grab a beer and get creative.

Leave your ideas in the comments below and Monday Night will choose the best. Once we have style picked out, then come back and we name it.

What’s your idea? Give it a shot. Tell us below. A test batch of the winning brew will be available on draft at the brewery. You and 10 of your closest friends can attend the launch at Monday Night so start brainstorming.

Extended! Though 11:59 pm on June 1st!

Monday Night “Master Splinter” to Join Black Tie Series

Monday Night Brewing (Atlanta, GA) readies a new Black Tie Series release, Master Splinter. The series is a formal, fancy, experimental series by the brewery.

Master Splinter will be an imperial red ale, aged on hard maple. (Yeah, I giggled too.)

Some of the greatest men on Earth did big things with wooden sticks in their hands. Theodore Roosevelt. Hank Aaron. Judge Judy. Gandolf. We made beer for the folks wielding sticks, risking sprinters every time they swing a bat. Or cast a spell. Or do ninja stuff.

This red ale has the the malt backbone and creamy mouthfeel you’d expect from a red, but with a little something extra. It’s dry-hopped with the floral East Kent Golding hop, and aged on hard maple. None of the sissy soft maple your mom uses.

Monday Night Master Splinter will be available in 22oz bottles and draft.

Style: Red Ale (Maple Aged)
Availability: 22oz Bottles, Draft.
Release: TBA

9% ABV

Monday Night tells Beer Street Journal that there is no time frame for canning, or even initial offerings. It will be a while before you see cans on shelves.

In Atlanta, SweetWater Brewery and Red Brick Brewing launched cans. Second Self Brewing, and Wild Heaven Craft Beers are planning cans soon in the near future as well.
