These Are Limited Edition Mikkeller Heat Sensitive Labels

Perniclas Bedow, a design studio based in Stockholm, Sweden recently collaborated with Danish brewer Mikkeller.  They teamed up to created heat sensitive labels indicating the beer’s temperature.  (Like the mountains that turn blue.)  When the label gets warm, the snowflake turns into a sun.  When cold – back to a snowflake.

Pale Spring Ale is the first of 4 seasonal beers coming this year. Limited to just 3,500 bottles, sold in Europe.  [Bedow]

Weasel Rodeo is the Next Jester King/Mikkeller Collab

Jester King Weasel Rodeo

Weasel Rodeois the 2nd collaboration between Jester King and Mikkeller. (First was Ale/Malt Liquor In TX’ Geek Brunch.)  This new weasel is based of Mikkeller’s Beer Geek Brunch Weasel, a beer brewed with “weasel coffee,” the most expensive coffee in the world.  You might have heard it called “poop coffee” because the kopi luwak “weasel” eats the berries of the plant, and excretes the coffee beans.   Vietnamese roaster, Trung Nguyen, provided the Kopi Luwak coffee.  Weasel Rodeo is brewed with smoked malt and ground chipotle pepper.

Why, upon seeing a testosterone-fueled beast angrily thrashing about, did someone once think, “Betcha I can stay on that horse longer ‘n you.” How come the first time a searing hot pepper was popped into a mouth it wasn’t the last? And what about stepping in coffee bean-studded weasel poo provoked the human brain to ask the unreasonable question, “Reckon’ diesel’ make a decent cup of Joe?’ Even beer itself began with the thought, “Let’s squeeze the liquid out of those soggy, sprouting grains, leave it around for a few days until it starts to smell funny, and then drink it.” When the curious urge to do seemingly stupid things doesn’t kill us, it can sometimes yield bizarre and splendid results. Bottoms up! Jester King Craft Brewery is an authentic farmhouse brewery in the beautiful ‘Texas Hill Countty, on the outskirts of Austin. We brew what we like, drink what we want and offer the rest to those who share our tastes.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ coffee, chipotle peppers)
Hops:  Millenium, Saaz, Cascade, Columbus
Malts:  Mans Otter, dark crystal malt, brown malt, chocolate malt, smoked malt

Availability: 750 ml bottles
Arrival: Draft already debuted. Bottles? August, 2012.

10.1% ABV
