Leinenkugel Snowdrift Vanilla Porter Cans

Leinenkugel Brewing Company is replacing Fireside Nut Brown with Snowdrift Vanilla Porter this fall.  Unlike it’s nutty predecessor, Snowdrift will be offering in cans. The beer is a porter with vanilla, and as John Leinenkugel tells me –  “great when you’re freezing your ass off.”

The flavors of Winter, complex malt character reveals layers of coffee and cocoa. 

Brew day is set for Labor Day, and Snowdrift will start shipping around Halloween.

Leinenkugel Adding Big Eddy Baltic Porter

Leinenkugel Big Eddy Baltic Porter

As mentioned in June on BeerStreetJournal, Leinenkugel’s is currently in the process of brewing the following up to Big Eddy Imperial IPA– Baltic Porter. The brewers in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin have been working on test batches of this new beer. It looks like the final version will be brewed with licorice root. Expect Baltic Porter this fall.

A rich, malty brew with toffee, port, and chocolate notes and a dark fruit finish.

Leinenkugel’s Currently Brewing Baltic Porter

On the heels of the release of Big Eddy Imperial IPA, Leinie’s is working the the 4th release in the series. Baltic Porter is currently being test batches, and soon to be brewed.  Tentatively, Baltic Porter will release this fall.  The Big Eddy series started with Russian Imperial Stout in 2010, and again in 2011.  2012 as seen Wee Heavy Scotch Ale and Imperial IPA additions.  In addition to Imperial IPA, expect Lemon Berry Shandy late summer.

Leinenkugel’s Lemon Berry Shandy Arrives Late Summer

Leinenkugel Lemon Berry Shandy

Leinenkugel’s will be adding to it’s shandy portfolio late summer.  Lemon Berry Shandy is slated to be released in September according to the brewery.

Lemon Berry is much like Summer Shandy- as it’s weiss beer blended with blackberry, raspberry, and lemon juice.  Shandy sales are strong, especially for Leinie’s.  Summer Shandy is only sold for 5 months out of the year, but account for a whopping 1/3 of the brewery’s revenue. This year Lenie’s even released the beer a full month earlier – on leap day.

Style: Shandy (w/ Lemons, Raspberries, Blackberries)

Leinenkugel Launching “Snowdrift” This Fall

Leinenkugel’s will debut a new “” this fall in bottle, draft, and cans.   This new release comes after discontinuing Fireside Nut Brown.   Snowdrift Vanilla Porter will take it’s place.  Drift is an American porter brewed with vanilla bean.

Snowdrift is set to be brewed around Labor Day, ready to ship around Halloween.

Two scotch ales have arrived at the same time, malt lovers.  Red Brick Brewing has just added one to their Brick Mason Series, and Leinenkugel’s to their Big Eddy Series.  More on each:

Red Brick Wee Heavy

Both breweries serie will see additions this year.  Leinie’s is planning an Imperial IPA, and a Baltic Porter.  They have also been teasing a barrel aging program.   Red Brick has 7 planned Brick Mason releases in 2012.

Leinenkugel Big Eddy Series To Feature Imperial IPA

Leinenkugel Big Eddy Imperial IPALeinenkugel’s Big Eddy series will continue to expand this year with Big Eddy Imperial IPA.  This hoppy offering joins Imperial Stout and just released Wee Heavy.   According to John Leinenkugel, the brewery hopes to add one more to the Big Eddy series by the end of the 2012 – Baltic Porter.

Five distinctive hops are added at every stage of the brewing process for our take on an Imperial IPA.
