Great Divide Brews Fresh Hop

Great Divide has started brewing Fresh Hop, due out by the end of September.  This fresh hopped offering features Centennial, Cascade, & Simcoe hops.

Per GD:

The fresh, whole cone hops have arrived at the brewery and our rockstar brewers have been hard at work around the clock to turn them into delicious beer. Centennial, Cascade and Simcoe hops are shipped overnight, directly from the field to the brewery, maximizing freshness.

The whole cone hops impart a grassy, citrusy, aromatic character to the beer. While this beer may be a labor of love for our brewers, it’s a tasty, crisp pale ale that’s perfect for the season. If you’re nice, you may even get a whole cone hop in your Tap Room pour.

Style: American Pale Ale

Availability: 22oz bombers, Draft.

6.1% ABV

Great Divide Leaves Markets

Great Divide Brewing is growing, much like the rest of the beer community in the United States.  It’s a good thing! But….As we have seen recently with the Dogfish Head news, and acquisition of Goose Island by InBev, because you are growing, things get complicated.  It has surfaced over the past 24 hours that Great Divide Brewing will be leaving between 4-7 U.S. markets due to “growing pains”, and supply issues.

Affected:
Great Divide Brewing will be leaving Delaware, Michigan, Rhode Island, Connecticut.  It was mentioned in various beer related tweets that Washington D.C. could also be affected.

According to a few beer stores in Delaware & Connecticut, Great Divide has already been scarce.

UPDATE (VIA Savannah Distributing) From Great Divide:
We are pulling out of MI, RI, DE and CT due to our exponentially increasing orders.  Additionally, we are pulling out of DC and southern and central VA. While we are excited to see this massive growth, we simply do not have the production capability to keep up with these orders. We appreciate the loyalty that our customers have shared with us in these states and hope to be back in the future.

COMING SOON: Great Divide 17th Anniversary

Making it’s yearly appearance and celebrating another year of great brews in Great Divide’s Anniversary Ale.  2011 marks 17 years with 17th Anniversary Wood Aged Double IPA.  You are correct in thinking its like 16th & 15th Anniversary ales.  They were so popular & good, Great Divide decided to remake it.  Each year does take just a little different though.  That’s the fun of it.

Label:
Based on our award winning beer, Denver Pale Ale, this copper-hued treat is a celebration of everything Great Divide does best.  Plenty of malty sweetness provides a backdrop for earthy, floral English and American hops, while French and American oak round off the edges and provide a touch of vanilla.  Thanks to everyone who’s supported us for the last 17 years – here’s to 17 years more!

Arrival: Late April 2011

NEW RELEASE: Great Divide Grand Cru

Grand Cru is actually a wine term that beer has essentially borrowed.  In wine – it means “great growth”, yet the definition is a little confusing.  As of late, “Grand Cru” is essentially the best offering – or special vintage.  Great Divide Brewing’s Grand Cru is just that.  A special offering.  A big Belgian offering from the Denver, Colorado brewer.

Commercial Description:
Grand Cru is our very special Belgian-style dark ale. Imported malts give it a round malty richness, and the fruity complexity and slightly spicy character come from brewing with a proprietary Belgian yeast strain. Don’t let the name fool you; while it may be a special occasion beer, this medium-bodied, elegant incarnation is anything but snobbish.

Style: Belgian Strong Dark Ale

Taste Expectations: Dark fruits.  Dates, Figs, Raisins.  Candi Sugar. Some smoke. Boozy. Slightly sweet.

Food Pairings: Per GD Roasted chicken with thyme, braised short ribs, oven roasted vegetables, grilled sweet potatoes, roaring 40′s blue cheese, bread pudding.

Availability: 22oz Bombers. January – March, seasonally.

11% ABV
