Creature Comforts Doubling Capacity, More Can Distribution Soon

Creature Comforts (Athens, GA) has two 12oz cans in market close to home,  Athena and Tropicalia. Pallets of the both offerings are selling as fast as the brewery’s 40 can per minute line will produce.

The brewery is increasing their fermentation capacity starting this week (mid-February.)

Even though Creature Comforts hasn’t been open a year yet, the brewery will soon max out at 4,000 barrels a year (124,000 gallons.) The tanks that are hitting the the brewery floor now will increase capacity to 8,000 barrels annually.

Blake Tyers of Creature Comforts tells Beer Street Journal that the new tanks are earmarked for can production (just to keep the supply up.) The extra capacity will help with supplying the city of Atlanta, who are all but demanding the fresh cans. Currently, the timeline for Atlanta to receive cans is by the end of March, 2015.

Even though the 8,000 barrels gives Creature Comforts some growing room, Tyers laments – that might not last very long.

Creature Comforts Koko Buni & More Planned For Cans

Creature Comforts (Athens, GA) launched two can offerings this month – Tropicalia and Athena. Both can offerings have been quite well received. The brewery has already ordered more tanks to double their annual capacity, just to keep up with can production.

So what’s next?

The brewery is going to increase production of Athena and Tropicalia in hopes to satisfy demand of their hometown of Athens and supply Atlanta, Georgia.

Soon after, Creature Comforts will expand the can lineup to include Bibo Pilsner, and Reclaimed Rye.

Then, in fall 2015, look for Koko Buni (a coconut coffee porter) in 12oz cans as a seasonal.

Creature Comforts (Athens, GA) is launching Athena as a part of their initial lineup, a berliner weisse. Athena is a tribute to the Athens, Georgia, the brewery’s home.

A refreshing, gently tart, German-style wheat beer.  Our take on the classic Berliner has a blend of citric and fruit notes with nods to cider and sauvignon blanc. We go through two fermentations with this beer to offer an interesting complexity in an amazingly light and drinkable beer.

Creature Comforts Athena is a year round draft only (initially) offering.
