A Few Notes on Sierra Nevada’s New Seasonal

Flipside_Red_IPA_12ozBottleA few notes on Sierra Nevada’s new Flipside Red IPA arriving this September. The new seasonal will join Tumbler Brown Ale, and clock in at 6.2% ABV, 60 IBUs.  The brewery describes the new offering:

Flipside Red IPA prominently features tropical fruit and citrus hop flavors from the use of whole- cone Citra, Simcoe, and Centennial hops. These hops are used both as finishing additions and in the Hop Torpedo, a proprietary Sierra Nevada device that captures more hop aroma and flavor, but not bitterness, during the fermentation process. The interplay of pale, caramel, and chocolate malts firmly roots Flipside Red IPA and supplies its rich color. With just the right gusto–6.2 percent ABV and 60 IBU–this seasonal beer is perfect for the final flash of summer.

Sierra Nevada Celebration will follow Flipside Red IPA in late fall, 2013

When Your Beer Is So Popular You Need A Special Decal…

Alchemist Heady Topper

I never thought I would see this (in beer) but it just happened. A craft beer, named Heady Topper by The Alchemist, has created an “Authorized Retailer” sticker. The black market sales what is considered among the best beers in the world has grown exponentially.

Interestingly enough, Heady Topper is the only beer they brew. (Since flooding destroyed the brewpub). Thanks to this demand, John Kimmich’s brewery has a decal you can display showing that you legally receive this beer for retail sale.  It makes me think of those mall cellphone places or knock off Apple Retailers.

So where can you buy Heady Topper now? The brewery in Waterbury, Vermont or these hoppy retailers
