Sunday Sales Passes In Georgia

It finally happened.  Sunday Sales passed in Georgia.  The people have spoken. Beer lovers rejoice. (Ok fine, and wine lovers, and liquor peeps too.)  It past nearly everywhere it was on the ballot.  Forest Park is the only only place it didn’t pass.  In Atlanta, it was 4-1 in favor of sunday sales.  It was reported earlier, and prematurely- that it failed in Villa Rica, GA. New numbers show the referendum passing.

That leaves 2 states with a full ban on sunday sales.  Now that the referendum has passed, its up to the cities when to allow the sales on Sunday to start. (Still looking for info on this…)

Bell’s Sues The State Over Keg Laws

Bell’s Brewing is suing the state of Michigan.  A complaint was filed last week about a new law pertaining to kegs.

Under the new law, the state of Michigan requires an ID tag to be attached to each keg when they are sold. If the tag isn’t attached to the keg when it is returned, the buyer faces fines and jail time. (YES! JAILTIME)  Lawidiots, err.. lawmakers propose this cuts down on underage drinking.   Larry Bell believes that this has negative repercussions for the microbrewing industry.

How?
It lessens the incentive to return kegs to the brewery, and could restrict who can purchase.   [WWMT]
