Shortly after midnight last night, while the east coast past out from a day of football drinking, a small (or not so small) story broke. Jim Koch, founder of Boston Beer Company is now a billionaire.
The company’s diverse portfolio of over 70+brews, from lager to small batch offerings, plus the success of the flagship Boston Lager offering, AND a 10x growth in the shares of Boston Beer stock have placed him in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
That’s a huge feat in the beer industry. We are doing some research now to see if there is another billionaire amongst craft brewers. [Bloomberg]
