Beer Helped Man Run Around The World

An Irish runner, (read UBER, psychotic runner),  has become the only man to run 7 marathons on 7 continents in less than 5 days.  That’s just a tad over 182 miles in total.  Richard Donovan of Galway, would drink a Heineken during the race, and one after.  The carb content would aid him in the long distance run and recovery.  Turns out, the beer was basically the only thing he could keep down.

“I was absolutely wrecked. I wasn’t even able to keep down water,” he said. “We came to desperate measures in Sydney and I chanced a beer. I had one bottle of Heineken during the race, for some carbs, and one at the end of it. It was the first time something stayed down in days.”

The marathon took him from Antarctica to Cape Town, South Africa; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Orlando, US; London, UK; Hong Kong and finally Sydney. [IrishTimes]
