Headed to shelves soon from Left Hand Brewing is “TNT Weizen Dopplebock.” A completely new release by Left Hand, this beer will be brewed with Lapsang Souchong tea.
Using the far reaches of the internet (aka Wikipedia) it yielded some info on this ingredient. Lapsang Souchong translates to “small plant from Lapu Mountain.” The tea was invented in during the Qing era. Shortening the story, to speed up the drying process – tea producers would dry the tea leaves over a fire of pine trees.
The resulting flavor of the tea is smokey. Exactly the character Left Hand was in search of.
TNT will be a seasonal release, with a potential of being released more than once a year.
