Alaska has a new brewery in town – Anchorage Brewing Company “Where brettanomyces is King!” The barrel age leaning brewery was officially licensed on March 9th, 2011. Publicly, the brewery has 2 beers under their belt – Anticipation & White Out Wit.
Two more beers are are about to launch – with a total of 6 coming in 2011.
Bitter Monk – Belgian Double IPA, 9% ABV, 100 IBUs. Apollo, Simcoe, Citra Hops. Dry Hopped in the barrel with Citra hops. Triple fermented – first in the tank with a belgian golden ale yeast, second in french oak chardonnay barrels with brett, and finally in the bottle with a third yeast for natural carbonation
Love Buzz Saison, 8.0% ABV, 40 IBUs. Made with Simcoe, Amarillo, and Citra hops. Spiced with fresh rosehips picked from his family’s land in Alaska, fresh orange peel, and black peppercorn. Dry hopped in the barrel with Citra Hops. Triple fermented – first in the tank with a belgian golden ale yeast, second in Pinot Noir barrels with brett, and finally in the bottle with a third yeast for natural carbonation.
