Unknown Brewing Orders Canning Line, Silverback Stout to Return

Update: in 2017, Silverback Stout will be known as Venture Stout.

Last year, The Unknown Brewing Company (Charlotte, NC) released a one-off called Silverback American Stout. The beer was immediately popular.

The beer is stout brewed with seven different grains, and all west coast hops. Unknown Silverback is full of piney hops and chocolate flavors.

“We’re pretty happy about this one. Love this beer and the package is bad ass”, said Brad Shell, brewery owner.

With this can release pending (and a very successful launch of Over the Edge IPA cans) the brewery has ordered their own canning line. Silverback will be first down the line.

Unknown hopes to have cans on shelves in January, 2015.

Tallgrass Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat Returns

Two years ago, Tallgrass Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat was promoted to big time status. The brewery took Buffalo Sweat, an oatmeal cream stout, and nuanced it with Ugandan vanilla beans.

The result is a creamy chocolate beer with a hint of espresso, turned full on dessert beer.

To create Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat we start with our best selling beer, Buffalo Sweat. We carefully infuse this award- winning oatmeal cream stout with whole Ugandan vanilla beans. This enhances the beer’s natural dark-roasted flavors of espresso, chocolate, and creamy sweetness. “Liquid chocolate chip espresso cookies” is how one fan described its unique flavor.

Spoetzel Brewery, makers of Shiner, cross the 106 year mark in 2015. That means birthday beer, with Shiner Birthday Beer Chocolate Stout. The brewery was started by Kosmos Spoetzel 1909 in Shiner, Texas – a town of just over 2,000 people.  The beer has been brewed in Shiner ever since.

To celebrate the 106th birthday of the “Little Brewery” in Shiner, we crafted this special limited-edition brew that’s a sweet treat for all. Brewed with chocolate malt and real cocoa, this year’s Shiner Birthday Beer is a delicious out with a soft creamy head, chocolate aroma and taste and a slightly sweet finish.
