Oskar Blues (Longmont, CO) debuted their first 16 oz “tallboys” this year with Deviant Dales. Another tallboy offering is coming soon – G’Knight. The tribute beer is a big imperial red ale, with a big hop influence. Currently available in 12oz cans, and draft.
G’Knight is a hybrid version of a strong ale — somewhere between an Imperial Red and a Double IPA. We make it with six different malts and three types of hops, then dry-hop it with a mutha lode of Amarillo hops.

New Belgium Brewing Company has just released Red Hoptober, the newest fall seasonal out of Fort Collins, Colorado. The name is probably familar to you, as the last couple of years it was called “Hoptober.” This year New Belgium changed it up a bit with the addition of El Dorado hops.
Red Hoptober is a dark garnet ale with a bright head and three varieties of hops. El Dorado hops from Central Washington are bold and present with a distinct, piney flavor as well as citrus notes. The caramel malt and roasted barley provide a sturdy backbone. Centennial and Cascade hops bring more hints of citrus, and a subtle roasty tone follows through each sip.
Consider Red Hoptober to be a nice transitional beer from hot weather beers and wintery big beers. Hitting shelves now, through October, 2012.

“Fall seasonals are a terrific transition from hot weather’s lighter beers into the warm embrace of winter beers,” says New Belgium Brewer Grady Hull. “Red Hoptober is perfect for a cool day fishing or a relaxing night around the campfire.”

Sierra Nevada gears up for another “Best Of” boxset release in 2012. Beer Camp is the brewery’s way of reaching out to the collective beer community by inviting lucky individuals to come brew in Chico, California. Some of the best ones find their way into a mixed 12 pack. Imperial Red Ale, aka Beer Camp #65, aka Red-oric seen above is the first of 2012’s potential entries in the pack.
This Imperial Red Ale takes the intense hop profile found in a traditional double IPA and turns up the malt. It has aromatic hop notes of grapefruit, peach, and melon – balanced by a smooth and surprisingly robust malt body.
