Ballast Point Coconut Victory at Sea is now in bottles

Ballast Point Coconut Victory at Sea

Ballast Point Coconut Victory at Sea has now been bottled by the San Diego, California based brewery.

Available on draft in the past, Ballast Point Coconut Victory at Sea uses the brewery’s base imperial porter, and infuses it with sweet roasted coconut. The resulting beer is dark and tropical.

This Coconut Victory at Sea takes our popular Imperial Porter to another place. We added sweet roasted coconut to our robust perter brewed with Caffe Calbria coffee and vanilla, the perfect compliment to this beer’s subtle roasty intensity. A favorite at our Victory at Sea Day, but it’s worth enjoying anytime  you need to be transported.

2016 has been the year of variants for Ballast Point. The first half of the year has seen Pineapple Sculpin, Orange Vanilla Fathom, and Watermelon Dorado.

Ballast Point Coconut Victory at Sea is a 22 ounce bottle release.

Style: Imperial Porter (w/ Coconut)
Availability: 22oz Bottles, Draft.
Debut (Bottles): November 2016

Oskar Blues Rum Barrel-Aged Death By Coconut debuts in December

Oskar Blues Rum Barrel-Aged Death By Coconut

Oskar Blues Rum Barrel-Aged Death By Coconut is coming this December to the brewery’s’ taprooms. Brace yourselves.

The brewery recently upped their barrel-aging game with a national release of Barrel-Aged Ten Fidy. That beer is causing fan breakouts all over the nation right now.

Oskar Blues taprooms are seeing more barrel-aging variants available to those that can make trip, including recently released Java Fidy, (bourbon aged Ten Fidy with Hotbox Coffee). This December, Oskar Blues Rum Barrel-Aged Death By Coconut will find its way into cans.

The base beer, an Irish Porter brewed with coconut and Cholaca, a cacao derivative, is already a bit tropical. All it needed was rum.

“To sum it up we wanted a beer that sends your palate on vacation.” – Oskar Blues Cellar Manager Dennis McShea

Badass packaging: Back Forty Peanut Butter Porter

Back Forty Peanut Butter Porter

You’ve heard of comfort food. Meet comfort beer. Back Forty Peanut Butter Porter is easily one of of the best can designs we’ve seen in 2016.

The Gadsden, Alabama based brewery took a porter and aged it on roasted peanuts. They call it comfort food. It really is comfort beer. You see, it’s not easy to brew with anything fatty or oily. Oil destroys the surface tension of bubbles. No bubbles means flat beer. Execution and nuance is key.

It’s creamy, it’s big, it’s just what it sounds like. Brewed with crushed peanuts and a malt bill thick enough to slather on some bread, Peanut Butter Porter belongs on your grocery list right next to the jelly, bananas & bacon.

Back Forty Peanut Butter Porter is a little sweeter than other peanut butter beers out there, which we think is a good thing. It’s a freaking 10.5% alcohol by volume porter with a nutty peanut butter finish. While it’s not just like eating a peanut butter sandwich, it’s definitely not just a beer either. There is truth in the name: Peanut Butter Porter. Plus A-MAZING packaging.

Back Forty Peanut Butter Porter is available now in 12 ounce cans. Don’t worry, there’s no crusts here.

Style: Porter (w/ Peanuts)
Hops: Apollo
Malts: Two Row, C-60, C-80, Midnight Wheat and Chocolate malts

Availability: 12oz Cans
Debut: November, 2016

10.5% ABV

Nantahala brewing pattons run porter

Nantahala Brewing Pattons Run Porter, a fall favorite on draft since 2011, releases in bottles this year.

Pattons Run Porter, described as “a sessionable beer that is light in body yet has big roast and semi-sweet chocolate flavors,” compliments the fall season’s outdoor activities. “At 4.5% it satisfies people who want to have a few pints without sacrificing flavor,” says brewmaster Greg Geiger.

The Bryson City, NC based brewery offers Pattons Run Porter, named after the first major rapid boaters encounter on the Nantahala River, on draft in their tap room each fall.

Terrapin Smoke on the Porter is Side Project #28

Terrapin Smoke on the Porter can

Terrapin Smoke on the Porter is now the brewery’s Side Project #28.

The base beer is a Baltic porter brewed with beechwood smoked malt, that the brewery will be been aging on French oak until this fall release. In case you have a song rolling around your head, the beer is a nod to Deep Purple’s classic Smoke on the Water, released in 1972.

RELATED: Terrapin Hi-10 (Mango Habanero Double IPA)

Like music to your ears, “Smoke on the Porter” is that song you just can’t seem to get out of your head. Brewed with beechwood smoked malt and aged on French Oak, this old world lager will keep you humming that familiar tune.

What to expect? Smoke might turn some people off. To get that out the way now, there is just a hint off the beechwood smoked malt. There is a good bit of chocolate. So…smokey chocolate with a hint of fresh oak in the finish. A candidate for rich desserts, vanilla ice creams, or cheesecakes. Hell, even hot wings. Get weird.

Terrapin Smoke on the Porter is headed to shelves in 12 ounce cans – a very limited release.

Style: Baltic Porter (French Oak Aged)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Debut: November, 2016

8.5% ABV

Chocolate & Coffee: Ballast Point Mocha Marlin debuts

Ballast Point Mocha Marlin

Ballast Point Mocha Marlin joins the brewery’s “enhanced’ bottle lineup in the near future. That’s our way of describing the expanding line of core beers that have extra ingredients, like grapefruit, thai chili, or pineapple.

Ballast Point Mocha Marlin starts as the brewery’s year-round Black Marlin Porter, plus additions of coffee and chocolate. Dessert or breakfast beer. Your choice.

Our Black Marlin Porter is the perfect beer for a mocha mashup. The addition of the coffee and cocoa plays perfectly off the roast, chocolatey flavors of this English porter, while a hint of vanilla smooths it all out. It’s full-bodied, but not too sweet; try it for breakfast…or dessert.

Ballast Point Mocha Marlin has been available on draft in the past.

Style: Porter (w/ Coffee. Chocolate.)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft.
Debut: Late-September, 2016

6% ABV

Sixpoint 5 Beans, an exotic spin on the imperial porter

Sixpoint 5 Beans

Sixpoint 5 Beans, the next iteration of the brewery’s “bean” nomenclature, is headed to shelves.

The New York based brewery started the “beans” series with 3 Beans back in 2013, a Baltic porter brewed Stumptown Coffee Beans, Mast Brothers cacao beans, and Romano beans in the beer’s mash. The final beer was aged on toasted oak.

Then came 4 Beans, which brought vanilla beans into the fold as bean number 4.

Sixpoint 5 Beans has joined the family lineup, featuring cacao, coffee, romano, and vanilla beans, plus one more – black cardamom. The oily, smokey pod adds an exotic flair to this already strong ale.

We gathered 5 BEANS from the bazaar to create a cultural phenomenon; a melting pot of cacao, vanilla, coffee, and cardamom creates our original Turkish inspired porter. It’s Mad Science.

Sixpoint 5 Beans is available in 12 ounce cans starting in late October, 2016.

Style: Baltic Porter (w/ Romano Beans, Vanilla Beans, Cacao Nibs, Coffee, Black Cardamom.)
Availability: 12oz Cans
Debut: Late-October, 2016
