Hardywood Ages Gingerbread Stout in Bourbon Barrels

Did Hardywood Gingerbread Stout make you giggly? Try not to pass out if you get to taste this. Headed for the Hardywood Barrel Series – Bourbon GBS (Gingerbread Stout) Aged in Virginia Bourbon Barrels. Boom.

Hardywood Gingerbread Stout, described by BeerAdvocate as “freakin’ Christmas in a bottle,” is an imperial milk stout brewed with vanilla beans, cinnamon, fresh Casselmonte Farm baby ginger and Bearer Farms wildflower honey. Gingerbread Stout is then matured in Virginia bourbon barrels, where it adapts an incredibly mellow character with oak, caramel and bourbon undertones, and emerges 12 weeks later as Bourbon GBS. A festive blend of spice character laces this rich, chocolatey stout, which warms the palate and the soul.

… X-4 Macchiato Milk Stout is black in color and full-bodied, with a silky, velvety mouthfeel. With a moderately strong 6.3% abv and just enough hop bitterness to balance rich flavors and aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, and real espresso verdi so lush, you won’t be certain if it was made by a brewer or a barista.

Cigar City Moat Water celebrates Skatepark Of Tampa’s 20th Anniversary. Moat is a milk stout aged on maple veneers with vanilla beans and coffee.

This beer was created through a unique partnership involving three Tampa, Florida natives: Cigar City Brewing, Skatepark of Tampa, and PS Stix. The Canadian mapale wood veneers used in the aging process at Cigar City were then added  into SPoT’s 20 Year Anniversary desks built by PS Stix. Moat Water is the product of a collaboration that represents quality, a vested interest in the Tampa community, and most importantly, love of skateboarding.

Cigar City Aging Sweet Stout In Cognac Barrels

In the spirit of Cigar City Imperial Milk Stout comes another sweet, dark offering from the Tampa based brewery. While Imperial Milk was aged in Colorado Stranahan Whiskey Barrels, this stout spent time with cognac.

So, what you have here is an imperial sweet stout aged in cognac barrels. It tastes like finding money in your coat pocket with hints of your bag being first one out of the carousel at baggage claim. It’s good.
