Leinenkugel Big Eddy Cherry Doppleschwarz, a Barrel Aged Release
Leinenkugel Big Eddy Cherry Doppleschwarz takes aim at the brewery’s Big Eddy Series in the near future. This release marks a departure from the current releases.
Back in 2011, Beer Street Journal met with John Leinenkugel about their newest project that would become the Big Eddy Series. At the time, the brewery had been experimenting with a barrel aging program. We even tried some test batches of the would-be releases. Leinenkugel was hopeful that barrel aged offerings would join the lineup in about two years, after sourcing barrels, and aging the beers.
Now, close to four years later, Leinenkugel Big Eddy Cherry Doppleschwarz takes aim at the Big Eddy Series in 22oz bottles. This black lager (Schwarzbier), is aged in brandy barrels is Door County, Wisconsin cherries.
The brewery has not yet announced this offering.

A New “Big Eddy” Coming From Leinenkugel
After speaking with John Leinenkugel this week, he mentioned a new beer coming to the Big Eddy Series.
This November, the brewery will release Big Eddy Cherry Doppel-Schwarzbier.

Leinenkugel Big Eddy Ryewine Arrives in June
The next addition in the Leinenkugel Big Eddy Series arrives this June- Ryewine Ale. Much like the rest of the Eddy Series, the release is a high octane offering, an American barleywine.
A rare blend of rye malts gives a spicy complexity to a brew with the unforgettable depth of an American barleywine ale.

Artwork: Leinenkugel’s Big Eddy Uber-Oktoberfest
Following up on a previous mention of Leinenkugel’s Big Eddy Oktoberfest, behold the artwork. This August, the brewery is will add the first oktoberfest to the lineup, a strong 8.5% ABV version. The festbier is also dry hopped for added flavor depth. Arrives late summer, 2013

Big Eddy Ãœber Oktoberfest Arrives in August
Leinenkugel’s is working on the next Big Eddy release this year – Big Eddy Ãœber Oktoberfest. Expect it at the end of August. This fest beer is definitely big (read: imperial) as it will clock in at 10% ABV. John Leinenkugel tells me… “it’s spicy, even dry hopped.”
The Big Eddy series typically comes out once a quarter on draft and 12oz/4 packs.
