Terrapin’s New Offering Just Canned

Terrapin Beer Co. (Athens, GA) second can in their lineup, Hi-5 IPA was canned this week, at Two Road Brewing in Connecticut. The brewery has been using Two Road’s canning line while making a decision on a full time canning program.

To no one’s surprise, cans will be sticking around in Terrapin’s portfolio. A canning line is currently on a boat to the brewery from Italy.

Hi-5 IPA, dubbed a California style India Pale Ale, is also a year round offering. Hi-5 is hoppier than RecreationAle, but less boozy than Hopsecutioner at 7.3%. Look for cans to hit shelves in May, 2014.

Hops: Zythos, Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe, Citra
Malts: 2-Row Pale, CaraMalt, Cara Pilsner

Ipswich Summer Ale – A light-bodied, unfiltered Blonde ale that retains the bold flavors typical of an Ipswich Ale, our Summer Ale is light enough for a hot summer day and can satisfy even the most scorching thirst.

Heavy Seas Riptide IPA Returns

Heavy Seas Beer (Baltimore, MD) has released Riptide White IPA for a second time.

Riptide has it has the malt body of witbier, but hopped like an IPA. Most breweries have been releasing the white IPAs in the winter. Heavy Seas thinks they are a great spring transition.

Heavy Seas filled the the hopback (a piece of brewery equipment used to hop your beer) with orange peel, and coriander alongside the hops to add a bright citrus flavor to each sip. 

Heavy Seas Riptide IPA is available in 12oz bottles, and draft.

Style: White IPA (w/ Sweet & Bitter Orange PeelCoriander)
Hops: Czech Saaz, French Strisselspalt, Calypso, Centennial, Cascade, Citra
Malts: Torrified Wheat

Food Pairings: Grilled Fish, Panko Crusted Seafood, Tropical Fruit

Ballast Point to Launch Habanero Sculpin IPA

Ballast Point Brewing (San Diego, CA) will be adding a spicy offering to their lineup. Coming in April is Habanero Sculpin IPA.

The brewery has been experimenting with habanero additions for a while now, and by the looks of it, have finally reined in the recipe.

Bottles of Ballast Point Habanero Sculpin IPA will be limited to San Diego, California.

Lonerider Readies First IPA

Lonerider Brewing Company (Raleigh, NC) announced this week that they will be adding a few new markets this year.

In addition to the bigger distro area, the brewery working on a new beer you might be surprised has been missing… An IPA.

Yes, Lonerider hasn’t released an IPA yet, but will in 2014. You’ll know it by Addie’s Revenge. All these new markets won’t immediately receive this hoppy offering. Distribution will be limited until the brewery can gauge overall interest and success.
