Highland Southern Sixer IPA is the brewery’s first seasonal of 2017

Highland Southern Sixer IPA marks the Asheville, North Carolina based brewery’s first seasonal of 2017. It’s a hoppy one. ;

Six varieties of hops make Highland Southern Sixer IPA, including one never used by the brewery before, Ekuanot. (Once called Equinox.) Ekuanot along with Mosaic are the hop headliners, making this beer uniquely fruity and resiny.

Knowing the name well in advance, the brewing team had fun making every possible aspect of this beer relate to “six,” from the number of hops to the ABV and IBUs. Even the packaging, typically offered in 12-packs, is available only in six-packs. – Hollie Stephenson, Highland brewmaster

Highland Southern Sixer IPA will be tapped at the brewery on January 27th. 12 ounce bottles and draft will be available shortly after the brewery launch.

Style: IPA
Hops: Ekuanot, Mosaic, 4 Other Varieties

Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. Seasonal release.

Founders All Day IPA 19.2 ounce can potential

Founders All Day IPA, the Grand Rapids, Michigan based brewery’s highly successful “session” IPA, has had a busy few years.

The first release of the beer over two years ago found fans clamoring for it. Not every state was lucky enough to get it. The next round apparently sold as fast as it shipped.

Not long after that, Founders canned All Day IPA in 12 packs. Then, just to one-up themselves, the brewery released 15 packs that sell for the exact same price.

In 2017, Founders All Day IPA might see a brand new format – 19.2 ounce cans. To date, Founders has not released cans larger than 12 ounces. By the sound of it, this new format is targeted for ballparks, arenas, and convenience stores.

The beer you’ve been waiting for. Keeps your taste satisfied while keeping your senses sharp. An all-day IPA naturally brewed with a complex array of malts, grains and hops. Balanced for optimal aromatics and a clean finish. The perfect reward for an honest day’s work and the ultimate companion to celebrate life’s simple pleasures.

Currently, Founders All Day IPA is available in 12 ounce bottles and draft, year-round. The new format has not yet been discussed by the brewery.

Style: IPA

Big on fruit. Heavy Seas TropiCannon now year-round

Heavy Seas TropiCannon has returned to the brewery’s lineup once again. This time, year-round.

Loosely based on the brewery’s Loose Cannon IPA, Heavy Seas TropiCannon is hoppy, with a blast of tropical and citrus fruits. The brewing team introduces dried grapefruit, oranges and lemons during the brewing process, and mango, blood oranges and grapefruit post-fermentation. While Loose Cannon is heavy on the piney hop flavor, Heavy Seas boosts the citrus flavor by swapping Centennial and Palisade hops for Amarillo.

“TropiCannon was a pleasant surprise for us in 2016. It was originally planned as a limited release product, but so many people kept asking for it that we decided we needed to make it available on a year-round basis. At least for now. This is part of what makes the beer industry so fun!” – Hugh Sisson, brewery founder.

Heavy Seas TropiCannon is available in 12 ounce bottles and draft. A release party is planned at the brewery in Baltimore, Maryland on December 16th.

Style: IPA (w/ Mango, Lemons, Blood Orange, Grapefruit.)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. Year-round

Passionfruit, orange, & guava highlight Maui Brewing POG IPA

Maui Brewing POG IPA is the latest release by the Hawaii based brewery, based on very popular juice drink.

Let’s start with POG. The acronym stands for the the juices ingredients- Passionfruit, Orange and Guava that got its start back in 1971. A woman named Mary Soon is accredited with the creation, who worked of the Haleakala Dairy on Maui. Interestingly, those same POG caps gave rise to a 1990’s game by the same name – POGS. (IF you don’t know what we are talking about, Google it.)

Maui Brewing POG IPA is an India pale ale brewed with Enigma, El Dorado, Jerrylo, and Citra hops, plus fresh Passionfruit, orange and guava. As you can imagine, the end result is hoppy, juicy, and full of tropical flavor.

Sourcing enough of the three fruit varieties is the biggest challenge. On top of that, guava has a really short shelf life once picked. It really makes brewing this beer exciting, because all of a sudden when the farmer has the yield we need, it’s GO time!” – Matt Ponichtera, Maui Brewing Supervisor

Maui Brewing POG IPA is available in 12 ounce cans across the brewery’s entire footprint for a limited time.

Style: IPA (w/ PassionfruitOrangesGuava)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Debut: December, 2016
