Future Dragon: New Holland Dragon’s Milk Reserve Oatmeal Cookie

New Holland Dragon’s Milk Reserve Oatmeal Cookie, a new variant on the year-round barrel-aged imperial stout is on the horizon.

A few years ago the brewery starting brewing up variations of their well-loved barrel-aged imperial stout, Dragon’s Milk. To date, we’ve seen versions like Chocolate Orange, Banana Coconut, and even Smores. Now it looks like an Oatmeal Cookie variant is on the way.

If history tells us anything, expect cinnamon, cloves oats, and even raisin flavors, complimenting the vanilla and chocolate background of Dragon’s Milk.

Think Cracker Jacks with a hangover: Wild Leap Prize Inside Stout delivers

Wild Leap Prize Inside Cracker Jack Stout hits shelves, where the beer IS the prize inside.

This new imperial stout is basically the boozy beer equivalent of Cracker Jacks. The stout is brewed with peanuts, caramel, and caramel malt. Think of it like that childhood box of popcorn, but with a potential for a hangover with overindulgence.

The prize inside? It’s the beer for sure. So many of these dessert-inspired imperial stouts go overboard with the flavor semblances to their sugary inspirations. Wild Leap opted for a more subtle flavor, and in our opinion that makes a better beer. After each sip of Prize Inside, you are left with a lingering aroma of the iconic caramel popcorn, leading you ready for another sip. It’s not cloying, heavy, or overwhelming. (And pairs perfectly with real Cracker Jacks, BTW.)

Wild Leap Prize Inside is available in 12-ounce cans and draft for a limited time.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Peanuts. Caramel.)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Debut: Early February 2019

Monday Night debuts opera cake inspired ‘Fistful of Cake’ on March 8th

More pastry stouts. Monday Night Fistful of Cake is coming to the brewery’s Westside Atlanta location on March 8th.

You should know what a pastry stout is by now. In this case, this release is inspired by opera cake, a French dessert known for its layers of chocolate and coffee. The chocolate in this beer comes from the malt, the coffee from local roaster Batdorf and Bronson, and a “budget-breaking” amount of vanilla beans.

Look for Monday Night Fistful of Cake in 16-ounce cans at the brewery on March 8th, hitting limited distribution shortly after.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Coffee. Vanilla Beans.)
Availability: 16oz Cans
Debut: 3/8/19

Peppers & Bourbon: Birdsong Turtles on Pterodactyls returns on Valentine’s

Birdsong Turtles on Pterodactyls,  a small batch release series returns to spotlight on Valentine’s Day.

Truly a beer name you won’t forget, with a flavor you won’t forget, Turtles on Pterodactyls is first and foremost in imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels. When the beer was first released 4 years ago, that’s exactly what it was. Now there’s more turtle and more Pterodactyl. Birdsong has added cinnamon, coffee from Central Coffee Company, cocoa nibs, and serrano peppers into the recipe.

One day, friendly Dino turtles were caught in a volcanic corruption – the dangers time to be slow and steady. Fortunately, the vigilant Pterodactyl Rescue Squad noticed just in time! The dactyls swoops down with a thunderous call! And hitched the turtles to the rescue vests. Hot lava covered the earth but the turtle dudes were safe and sound. Want to be a pterodactyl? Harness their brave and gentle spirits but sharing this beer with a dinosaur loving friend. Cowabunga!

New Yeti Sighting: Great Divide Chocolate Cherry Yeti

Great Divide Chocolate Cherry Yeti is the latest “Yeti” to join the on-going series.

The Denver, Colorado-based brewery’s Yeti Imperial Stout is easily one of the most well-known for the style in the U.S. Since its inception, the “Yeti Clan” as the brewery calls it, has grown to include Oak Aged, Chai Yeti, Vanilla Oak Aged Yeti, and Barrel Aged Yeti. As 2019 gets rolling, Great Divide has released a new edition – Cherry Chocolate Yeti.

This release uses the epic Yeti Imperial Stout base and blends sour cherries and cacao nibs.

The roasty malt backbone of Yeti melds perfectly with the cherries and cacao to make this one a smooth sipper. A Yeti in a cherry orchard can be a great thing!

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Cocoa Nibs. Cherries.)
