Love barleywines? Don’t miss this seasonal release. Heavy Seas Brewing (Baltimore, MD) upgraded this brew to bomber status a couple of years ago. Highly cellerable, and boozy to boot. Each year, three editions are released. The regular edition (above), Cabernet Barrel Aged Below Decks, and Bourbon Below Decks. The barrel aged editions are a few weeks away.

Our English style barleywine — rich, malty, and opulent. Great at time of release but will benefit from bottle aging for many years to come. VINTAGE DATED.

Style: Barleywine (English style, lighter on the hops)

Westvleteren XII Hits Total Wine on 12/12/12

One of the most talked about beer releases in America in 2012 is upon us. Westvleteren XII, considered by some to be the #1 on planet earth will be released on U.S. soil for one time only. The Trappist quadrupel is usually only available at the monastery in Westvleteren, Belgium. The abbey is in such need of repair, that production of the world’s most sought after beer had to be increased to raise the funds for the repairs.

Westvleteren XII available for sale in a 6 pack with 2 glasses for $84.99.  All proceeds benefit the Abbey. Total Wine has announced this release will occur on 12.12.12, and available at Total Wine in the following states: Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Arizona, California and Nevada.

Westbrook To Distribute To Georgia

Westbrook Brewing (Mt. Pleasant, SC) will be distributing to Georgia soon.  The brewery has signed a distribution deal with Savannah Distributing.  Westbrook is founded by Edward Westbrook in late 2010.  Their year round beers include White Thai IPA, and India Pale Ale. Mexican Cake, the brewery’s anniversary beer got a lot of attention with its release earlier this year.

In addition to Westbrook’s lineup, the brewery brews select beers for Danish brewer Evil Twin Brewing.  Look for the beers on shelves before the end of the year.

Terrapin’s “Liquid Bliss” Should Arrive This Week

Terrapin’s Liquid Bliss Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter should arrive in stores this week. Bliss, aka Side Project #18 by the Athens, Georgia brewery is first time brewmaster “Spike” and crew have released a beer like this this. It took some time to get the recipe right when brewing with peanuts & peanut butter.

Style: Porter (w/ Chocolate & Peanut Butter)

Sixpoint Brewery (Brooklyn, NY) has recently inked a deal that will bring the popular canned offerings to the Peach State. Sixpoint has chosen Atlanta Beverage Company & Eagle Rock Distributing for the deal.

Four offerings are slated for initial launch, estimated in March, 2013. Bengali Tiger, Sweet Action, The Crisp and Resin.

Sixpoint Brewery was founded in 2004 by Andrew Bronstein and Shane Welch. The brewery launched can offerings in June 2011.

Wild Heaven Ode To Mercy Special Winter Ale

has become a seasonal Atlanta favorite over the past few years. The Avondale Estates, Georgia based brewery will bring the beer back to taps in a few weeks. Brewmaster Eric Johnson took Ode To Mercy, and added bourbon soaked oak chips.  The result is a winter beer with oak, vanilla, coffee, with a semi sweet finish.

Style: American Brown Ale (bourbon oak chips)
