MEET THE BREWER! Patrick Rue at The Porter!

Patrick Rue, co-founder of The Bruery based in Placienta, California will be in Atlanta starting next weekend for a rare few appearances in Atlanta.  I mentioned the beer dinner at Brickstore Pub.  If you can’t make the beer dinner be sure to head to The Porter Beer Bar in little 5 points.  On Sunday, February 21st at 6:30 pm Patrick Rue will be at the Porter to meet and greet fellow drinkers.  In addition to his appearance, The Porter will be tapping the following —

Two Turtle Doves — 12%, Belgian Dark Ale.  Two Turtle Doves is the second edition of The Bruery’s Christmas Ales.  (Partridge in a Pear Tree being the first.)   Doves touts ingredients such as pecans and cocoa nibs.   Flavors are nutty and chocolatey.  Suitable for aging 10 years (after the release of 12 Drummers, Drumming.)

Rugbrod — 8%, Dark Rye Ale.  This beer is influenced by Danish rye bread “Rugbrod” (pronounced roogbrood.)  Very malty, as these beers are popular around Christmas in Demark.  According The Bruery it’s a blend of Rye and JuleByrg beer.  (Danish strong Christmas Ale.) Expect bready, caramel malts.

Mischief — Belgian Strong Ale, 8.5% ABV.  Limited seasonal release.  Golden ale dry hopped with American hops.  Complex, hoppy, fruity.

Reminder, all offerings by The Bruery are unfiltered, and unpasteurized.

Quick Bruery Bio —

Founded out of the love of homebrewing, The Bruery basically started on a stove. Patrick Rue, his brother Chris and wife Rachel created an “amber” ale while Patrick was a first year law student. Over time the love of brewing couldn’t be held back any longer, and their life long goal was set.

The name “Bruery” is a meld of the word brewery with the family name “Rue.” All beers are unfiltered and unpasteurized. All carbonation is through bottle conditioning through secondary fermentation.
