This is New Belgium’s New Year Round Offering

New Belgium Brewing will be debuting a new year round offering, Snapshot, in February 2014.

This new wheat beer offering is actually a blend of two beers. The first is traditionally fermented with an ale yeast. The second is actually fermented with lactobacillus, which gives the beer slightly tart undertone.

Flavor:

…The beer opens with a citrus note from Target hops, coriander and grains of paradise, then gives way to malty smoothness and a refreshing tart snap at the finish.

Snapshot will debut in both 12oz bottles, 12oz cans, and draft. Look for a multi-city beer tour surrounding the launch to be announced soon.

Style: Wheat Ale (w/ Grains of Paradise, Coriander)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, 22oz Bottles, 12oz Cans, Draft
Arrival: February, 2014

Spring Sam Adams: Cold Snap

Is Samuel Adams Cold Snap a rebrand of the White Ale? It looks that way. The spring seasonal white ale uses a host of different spices like coriander and orange peel to create a complex, smooth flavor.

Crisp & lively, the hazy smoothness of this unfiltered White Ale is roused by the cracking of spring spices. From a hint of sweetness from orange peel & plum to the peppery bite of fresh ground coriander, the subtle blend of spices creates just the right refreshing kick to signal that spring is on its way. Cheers!

Style: White Ale (w/ Orange Peel, Coriander, Plum)
Availability: 12oz bottles, Draft.
Arrival: Spring, 2014

Evil Twin Releases NomadER Wit

nomader_wit_label_ver2

On shelves now is Evil Twin’s NomadER Wit. A place on their “gypsy ” brewer status.

Some people we know – they write about beers and they have called those of us at Evil Twin Brewing “nomads”. Other people we know – they built a hotel and a restaurant, and their neighborhood didn’t really have a name, so they called that “NoMad”. And how interesting that both nomads in NoMad enjoy a Brett-feremnted wit beer with notes of coriander and orange peel. So, no matter what – hit the road or hunker down… this beer was made nice, just for you.

Style: Witbier (w/ Orange Peel, Coriander)
Availability: 22oz bombers
Arrival: August, 2013

Heavy Seas Releases Riptide White IPA

Heavy Seas (Baltimore, MD) has launched their newest bottle offering – Riptide White IPA.  This new brew is a crossover of sorts, as it has the malt body of witbier, but hopped like an IPA. The best of both worlds really as the weather warms up.

When brewing Riptide the brewery filled the hopback (a piece of brewery equipment used to hop your beer) with orange peel, and coriander, in addition to a healthy hop dose. The finished product is fun to sort out with each sip.

Style: White IPA (w/ Sweet & Bitter Orange Peel, Coriander)
Hops: Czech Saaz, French Strisselspalt, Calypso, Centennial, Cascade, Citra
Malts: Torrified Wheat

Food Pairings: Grilled Fish, Panko Crusted Seafood, Tropical Fruit

Availability: 12oz bottles, Draft. April-June

Victory Brewing Brings Extinct Beer Style Back

In a collaboration with Market Garden Brewery in Cleveland, Victory will be brewing a beer style thought to be extinct in the United States. Kennett Ale was inspired by a ghost advertisement on the side of a wall in Cleveland and will be a re-creation of a style of beer originating in the Kennet/Reading region of England.

The brew uses English and German malts and is spiced with coriander, grains of paradise, and a bit of Piment d’Esplette peppers and brown sugar creating a 19th century style amber strong ale. A batch has been brewed at each brewery and will be available draft only starting April 2nd at Victory and April 4th at Market Garden.

Style: English Strong Ale
Availability: Draft only
Arrival: April, 2013
