Green Flash Hand Shake IPA, a Collaboration with Alpine

Green Flash Hand Shake IPA is coming out off the recent merger with Alpine Beer Co.

About a year ago, Green Flash Brewing “acquired’ Alpine Beer Co., in a deal that has seen Alpine’s beers brewed and distributed through Green Flash. This acquisition is a craft acquiring craft move, instead of a big brewery buying out the smaller one.

Enter Green Flash Hand Shake IPA. A co-brew, born out of the friendship and business relationship of the two breweries. If you know the duo, then you already know the beer has to be a hoppy one.

Hand Hake IPA is a commemorative collaboration beer brewed to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Green Flash and Alpine Brewing Company union. Brewmasters Pat and Shawn Mcilhenney and Chuck Silva combined peers to create an IPA worth of sharing with good friends. Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra, and El Dorado hops create a fresh, orange, peppery flavor with an earthy bitter finish. So delicious, let’s toast to a beautiful friendship.

Green Flash Hand Shake IPA is a 22 ounce bottle offering, not yet announced by the brewery.

Style: IPA
Hops: Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra, El Dorado

Both brewery’s are employee owned, and celebrate that aspect of their business. Deschutes EHOP is an amber ale, brewed with sage and thyme, and employee-grown hops.

“It has been quite a year for us at Harpoon as we’ve transitioned to employee ownership,” says Harpoon CEO and co-founder Dan Kenary. “It’s a complicated process and we couldn’t have done it without the support that we received from Deschutes and other craft brewers who had chosen this path before us. We’re extremely proud to be employee-owned – being an independent brewer is something we value deeply and believe it’s at the core of what makes the craft beer industry so great for both brewers and beer lovers. This beer is a high-five to our fellow independent American craft breweries and their employee-owners.”

The Makers of Wheaties Cereal Brings You – HefeWheaties

Wheaties, the breakfast cereal of champions, is bringing you the next logical step in your day, Beer. Introducing HefeWheaties.

First off, Wheaties cereal is not actually in the beer. There is wheat (it is a hefeweizen after all), so the brand connections are pretty easy to make. General Mills partnered with Fulton Beer, a brewery based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The idea got its start earlier this summer, thanks to connections members of Fulton Beer has with folks at General Mills. The evolution into HefeWheaties was simple once group got in the same room.

“We were intrigued from the get-go on this idea for many reasons, including that we’re both Minneapolis companies, and that the beer and the cereal both started from the same place in terms of raw ingredients and the same city,” says Ryan Petz, president and co-founder of Fulton

HefeWheaties will be available for a limited time in the Twin Cities, starting August 26th, at 3 pm at the Fulton Beer taproom for on-premise consumption. Cans will be available in retail in mid-to-late September.

HefeWheaties is a 16 ounce canned offering.

Style: Hefeweizen
Availability: 16oz Cans. Minnesota only.
