NoDa’s 3rd Bottle Release: Imperial Coco Loco

Last week, NoDa Brewing (Charlotte, NC) excitedly released Imperial Coco Loco. This is the 3rd bottle release by the growing brewery.  Imperial Coco is based of the Great American Beer Festival silver medal winning recipe, but pumped up. More malts, more cacao, more coconut. Bottles have already been released at the brewery, expect more at retail this week.

This is the Imperial version of our 2012 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal winning Robust Porter Coco Loco. By keeping the same English brown and chocolate malts from our original recipe, but greatly increasing the amounts used and adding nearly double the amount of hand roasted organic coconut and cacao nibs, we achieve an amplified version of our beloved robust porter. Rich, dark and layered with chocolate, coconut and roasty notes, this beer is full of flavor yet balanced as well. A great beer before, during or after a meal!

“Pull up a seat and kick off your shoes, we’ve shot to put the lounge in your glass. Hot Tropic Pale Ale is brewed with Motueka hops and carved up with ample amounts of raw coconut. Give it a ride, let it ease into you and maybe you’ll find yourself in a different place altogether.”

Cigar City & B. Nektar Create “Camp Braggot Ghost Stories”

Cigar City Brewing (Tampa, FL) recently opened a Cider & Mead division of the brewery. Meet the first collaboration – Camp Braggot Ghost Stories. teaming up with B. Nektar Meadery (Ferndale, MI) the team has created a lager/mead hybrid, with a host of ingredients, including coconut, cacao nibs, tea, and oak chips.

Scary things live in the dark. Full of unknown ghosts and ghouls. Surprises behind every tree. It might scare you, or it might make you laugh, but it’ll break eery preconceived notion you may have.

Perennial Artisanal Fantastic VoyageProof of more creativity coming out of Saint Louis, Missouri. Perennial Artisanal Ales looks to take you on a Fantastic Voyage.  A milk stout brewed with coconut.

Fantastic Voyage is a harmonic melange of coconut and Imperial Milk Stout brought to us by brewer, Jim Leabig. Loads of coconut, CO lactase and black malt balance each other to provide flavors reminiscent of chocolate covered coconut with a finish smooth like silk sheets. Best enjoyed while listening to slow jams – by candlelight.
