2013 Bruery White Chocolate. It’s Out There

Bruery White Chocolate 2013

What happens when you take a wheatwine (think White Oak), aged it in bourbon barrels with vanilla beans and cacao nibs? Something ridiculous. The Bruery’s White Chocolate. You’ll be hard pressed to find this bottle of sexy very far from Orange County, California, but like a luxury car or the Iron Man suit, you just want it. I wouldn’t chug this at a football game, but I would sip this at home by fire, surrounded by rich mahogany and many leather bound books.

Currently on sale at The Bruery’s tap room for $29.99 a bottle. No limit. If you love us, grab us a bottle(s). That’s what real love is.

Style: Wheatwine (w/ Vanilla Beans, Cacao Nibs, Barrel Aged. Bourbon)
Availability: 750 ml bottles

14.25% ABV

A Beer with Chocolate & Lobster [VIDEO]

Dogfish Head (Milton, DE) brewed an oyster stout for a special event years ago, and thanks to the weather, they got stuck drinking all 85 kegs. Not wanting to drink another oyster stout again, founder Sam Calagione goes back to his Maine roots, and brewed a different beer featuring a different crustacean – the lobster.

That, plus cocoa nibs creates Choc Lobster, a brewpub exclusive that will also be at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival.

Beer Street Journal Video: Brewing a Tomato Saison with Wild Heaven

Beer Street Journal joined Wild Heaven Craft Beers brewmaster Eric Johnson on a backyard brew day in rural Winterville, Georgia. This 50-gallon setup is the birthplace of Wild Heaven. This wasn’t any old pale ale brew day, we were on a special mission. Brew a special tomato-based beer for JCT Kitchen’s Attack of the Killer Tomatoes Festival.

Honestly, I can’t think of a single beer brewed with tomatoes. Neither could Eric, so when he went looking around brewers forums, not a lot of people thought it was a good idea. This is something you need to know about Eric Johnson. You can’t tell him no. For this first edition, the base beer is White Blackbird, an upcoming saison release by the brewery. Heirloom tomatoes were selected to add to the mash, then spiced with white peppercorns. For added depth, the saison was aged on cacao nibs and  Madeira oak.

If you are in Atlanta, you’ll get a shot at this brew this weekend.

Style: Saison (w/ Tomatoes, White Peppercorns, Cacao Nibs, Oak Aged. Madeira)
Availability: Draft only. Festival Limited

7.4% ABV

Terrapin Dos Cocoas Rides Again

Terrapin Beer Company  (Athens, GA) has released Dos Cocoas for the second time in the brewery’s history. Dos was an early part of the Side Project Series, and was extremely well received. Terrapin gave fans an opportunity to vote in a beer from the past (any except Depth Charge) to be re-rebrewed in 2013. Dos Cocoas won in a landslide.

The base beer is a porter, brewed with “dos” chocolates – cocoa powder and aged for a month on cocoa nibs. Look for it on draft and 22oz bombers in Terrapin territories now.

Style: Porter (w/ Cocoa)

5.8% ABV

The Love Of Stouts & Sex Brings Catherine’s Passion

Swamp Head Brewery (Gainesville, FL) has taken a little Russian inspiration for this upcoming imperial stout. 18th Century pretty lady Catherine II is said to have been the muse for the invention of the Russian Imperial Stout, due to her love of deep, roasty beers. She apparently was quite sexually hungry too. Are imperial stouts an aphrodisiac? I wonder if she has a 21st century sister. I’d love to meet her. Catherine’s Passion has fair trade coffee and cocoa nibs added for extra sexiness.

Catherine II, the 18th century Empress of Russia, is said to have been the Inspiration behind the creation of the Imperial Russian – Stout, an intensely flavored, robust, dark ale with a noticeable alcohol – presence. Legend has it that Catherine also had a voracious sexual appetite; she was known to have many lovers, but the story about the stallion was probably a myth. We infused our Imperial Russian Stout with cocoa nibs and fair trade coffee, to create a sensual stout with an extra kick. We think Catherine’s Passion would be aroused by this stout…ale.

Style: Russian Imperial Stout (w/ Coffee, Cocoa Nibs)
Availability: 750 ml bottles
Arrival: TBA

10% ABV
