Shock Top Strawbanero Wheat

Meet the new “Limited Edition” offering from Anheuser-Busch – Shock Top Strawbanero Wheat.

This iteration of the Belgian-style wheat beer uses habanero peppers, strawberries and orange peels. Shock Top Strawbanero Wheat joins the lineup of fairly off the wall styles like Honeycrisp Apple Wheat, Spiced Banana Wheat, Shockolate Wheat, and Twisted Pretzel Wheat.

Those feeling adventurous enough to track down Shock Top Strawbanero Wheat will most likely have to do so in the Shock Top mixed packs.

The beer has not yet been announced.

Goose Island Proprietors Bourbon County Brand 2015

Goose Island Proprietors Bourbon County Brand 2015 returns again on Black Friday, with a few things different then last year.

First – the bottle. You’ll notice new the packaging for the line for 2015. The bottles are embossed with the Bourbon County Brand logo, with the top featuring a “flag” with the beer description.

Goose Island Proprietors Bourbon County Brand 2015 is a barrel aged imperial stout, with maple, toasted pecans, and guaillopeppers.

To get the recipe for Proprietors, every brewer is encouraged to take home some Bourbon County Stout and experiment with ingredients. This year, brewer Di’s recipe got selected.

Goose Island Proprietors Bourbon County Brand 2015 will be available on Black Friday, November 27th, in 16.9 ounce bottles in Chicago only.

Stone Xocoveza Extra Anejo Released in Quingenti Series

Stone Xocoveza Extra Anejo

Stone Brewing Co. (Escondido, CA) released a collaboration – Xocoveza Mocha Stout last year. The beer was a creation of home brewer Chris Banker, who brewed with not only the Stone team, but Cerveceria Insurgente from Mexico.

Stone Xocoveza Extra Anejo will grace the brewery’s coveted Quingente Millilitre Series, a souped-up version of the original release. In addition to the cocoa, coffee, peppers, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg that was added to Xocoveza Mocha Stout, Stone has aged this edition in both red wine barrels and tequila barrels.

The base beer is the recipe of 2014 Stone Homebrew Competition winner Chris Banker, an intensely flavorful milk stout brewed with coffee and spices to mimic the rich flavors of Mexican hot chocolate.

Stone Xocoveza Extra Anejo will be available in 500ml bottles in very limited quantities. No distribution. Bottles were released at Stone World Bistor today.

Boulevard Brewing Company (Kansas City, MO) is releasing variations of their Smokestack Series Imperial Stout this year. Imperial Stout X – Coffee has already come and gone, making way for Boulevard Imperial Stout X – Aztec Chocolate.

Boulevard Imperial Stout X – Aztec Chocolate features cinnamon, dried pasilla negro and ancho chiles, plus cacao nibs.

The second installment, Imperial Stout X – Aztec Chocolate, takes inspiration from traditional drinking chocolate referred to as Xocoatl. The ancient Aztecs held chocolate in such high regard that in addition to its place as a holy drink in ceremonies, cacao beans were a form of currency…

Boulevard Imperial Stout X – Aztec Chocolate is now available in 750ml bottles.

Burnside Fruit of the Garden of Good & Evil, a Portland Fruit Beer Festival exclusive release.

Burnside Fruit of the Garden of Good & Evil is a collaboration with Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider. The beer is a blend of fruit beer with pineapple and apricot, plus ghost chilies scotch bonnet peppers, and aji peppers.

This unholy marriage of beer and cider is the ultimate temptation of luscious, juicy and tropical fruit character with notes of Pineapple and Apricot that pulls you in before ending in a firey tropical heat of Ghost Peppers, Scotch Bonnets and Aji peppers and a thirst quenching 4.5%

Burnside Fruit of the Garden of Good & Evil is available in 22oz bottles, at Burnside Brewing during the festival and special events around Portland, Oregon.

Westbrook Mexican Cake Hits Shelves Again

Westbrook Mexican Cake Cognac Barrel-Aged

Westbrook Brewing (Mt. Pleasant, SC) has a hit on their hands with Mexican Cake their first anniversary beer first released in May, 2012. The imperial stout is aged with cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks, and habanero peppers.

People couldn’t get enough of it, so Westbrook brought it back in 2013, alongside some barrel aged offerings.

Here in May, 2015, Westbrook Mexican Cake is in distribution, quietly (or not so quietly) hitting shelves where the brewery distributes. This is your official heads up.

Coastal Empire Dawn Patrol Coming to Bottles

Coastal Empire Dawn Patrol

Coastal Empire Dawn Patrol Imperial Breakfast Stout is slated for bottles. The 2014 Great American Beer Festival bronze medal winner is aged for 4 weeks on coffee, raisins, ancho peppers, serano peppers, cumin, nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon. The final result is a beer that resembles a Mexican mole sauce. In total, it takes the brewery more than two months to produce.

Coastal Empire Dawn Patrol Imperial Breakfast Stout will be available in 22oz bottles. The brewery has not yet announced this bottle release.
