Terrapin Liquid Bliss (chocolate peanut butter porter) returns

Terrapin Liquid Bliss, the brewery’s chocolate peanut butter porter is making a return this year.

Some of you might remember this peanut buttery release as Terrapin Side Project #14 from 2014.

The cocoa nibs are the same found in Moo-Hoo from Olive & Sinclair in Nashville, Tennessee. Combine that with peanut butter powder, and dessert is served. A powdered form of peanut butter is used because fats and oils from regular peanut butter would make the beer oily, and flat when you pour it.

The brewery is releasing about 800 barrels across their entire market, making it a fairly limited release.

Terrapin Liquid Bliss is available in 12-ounce cans and draft.

Style: Porter (w/ Cocoa Nibs, Peanut Butter)
Hops: US Golding
Malts: 2-Row Pale, Wheat, Crystal 86, Crystal 120, Chocolate, Chocolate Wheat, Black

Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. Year Round. Entire Terrapin Distribution.
Latest Return: January 2019

Rejoice! Allagash White is finally in cans

The best news you’ll read today comes from Portland, Maine. For the first time in 24 years, Allagash White is finally available in cans.

Early last year, Allagash released their first canned offering, Hoppy Table Beer. Yes, the fact that it wasn’t White shocked pretty much everyone. We needed to know why.

When the brewery opened in 1995, founder Rob Tod only had one beer in his arsenal – White. In the years since, Allagash White has become an icon in craft beer, in more than just the 17 states you can find the brewery’s beers.

Allagash has very stringent quality standards for their success. Almost daily, the employees take sensory tests in order to judge and maintain their beer’s quality. So much of that process surrounds White. Sure, it would have been easy to hook up a brite tank of one of America’s best witbiers to the canning line and let it run. But for Rod Tod and team, they decided to take their time with transitioning White to cans. Per Jeff Pillet-Shore, marketing director for Allagash, “That beer defines us. When we were ready to release the cans, we would simply know”. “We had to get it right,” he adds.

Initially, 16-ounce cans of White will be available at the brewery and then surrounding areas, like New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Western/Upstate New York – eventually becoming available in all 17 states where Allagash is found.

If you ask our opinion, Allagash White is absolutely one of the best offerings in American craft beer. White belongs in aluminum. Now it can now truly go every you go.

It’s a great day.

Oskar Blues & Cigar City debut ‘Bamburana’, a double barrel-aged imperial stout

Oskar Blues and Cigar City, both part of the CANarchy collective, are debuting a barrel-aged imperial stout nationally this month.

This collaboration is a big one, perfect for a winter release. The two breweries created an imperial stout, aged in both whiskey barrels and brandy barrels, with figs and dates. After blending into the finishing tanks, Bamburana was then aged again on Amburana wood spirals. Amburna is a tropical tree native to Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Peru.

“We were pleasantly surprised with the vanilla and gingerbread spice nuances this South American wood contributed into the finished beer and look forward to putting this delicious beer in front of folks,” said Wayne Wambles of Cigar City Brewing

Oskar Blues Cigar City Bamburana is a national release in 12-ounce cans and draft starting in mid-January, 2019.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Figs. Dates. Barrel Aged. Whiskey. Brandy.)

Creature Comforts Mouse Mask IPA, a nod to musician Danger Mouse

Creature Comforts Mouse Mask debuts at the brewery in Athens, Georgia on January 4th.

The latest limited edition release from the team at Creature Comforts. ‘Mouse Mask’ is an India pale ale, brewed with Simcoe, Idaho 7, and Strata hops.

Per Emily Sabula, Communications Specialist with the brewery “The name of the beer is actually not a reference to Deadmau5, but it is a nod to Danger Mouse – he spent some time here in Athens, GA – he was a radio DJ at the hyper-local WUOG, remixed some Neutral Milk Hotel, spun records at Compadres, and was plugged into the vibrant music scene here in multiple ways. Mouse Mask (a name referencing that he would wear mouse costumes during sets) is an IPA & a celebration of a favorite musician of ours & the time he spent in our little town of Athens.”

Fans wanting to get their hands on this release can reserve 4-packs of Creature Comforts Mouse Mask now on the CraftCellr phone app (opens in new window).

Style: IPA
